Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media about upgrading my phone plan. Thing is, I’ve already told Virgin to stop marketing calls by turning off my preferences, and I even called them to confirm. So yeah, I’m pretty sure this was a scam trying to trick me.

I got a call from a bloke speaking with a strong Indian accent claiming he worked for Carphone Warehouse. He was quite pushy, asking me straight off about the phone I had, who my network was with, and how much I paid each month. I played along and fed him some made-up details. He promised I could get a top-notch iPhone with unlimited calls and data for just £20 a month, then he just ended the call out of the blue.

They’re honestly so shamelessly deceitful. Who do we even tell about these guys, like for the public good? I’m worried that folks who are less aware might really end up getting scammed by them.

Got a call from this Scottish energy firm, Together Energy, but the bloke's accent was so thick he struggled with the name of my street. Said I was eligible for a cheaper summer energy deal, the typical chat about saving me some dosh. He mentioned it was fixed for two years. Asked him to put all the details in writing, and he promised a welcome pack. I told him I wasn’t interested in a welcome pack, just the info, and that was pretty much it - call ended there.
