Just had a rather perplexing experience with a chap who rang me up regarding an insurance refund for my washing machine. I made it abundantly clear that I didn’t hold any such policy and politely asked him to refrain from contacting me further. The caller had quite a pronounced Indian accent, which stood out amidst the usual banter. Quite an odd affair, to be honest!

Been getting calls from this number and finally picked up after the third time in a row. Let it go on until they tried to get my bank info, then I asked how they can live with themselves being so dodgy. They just replied “I breathe” or something like that. Probably figured out I wasn’t falling for it, started getting nasty and hung up on me. Such a waste of time.

Yesterday evening, someone kept ringing my 87 year old dad between around 8 and 10 pm. Each time he answered, no one spoke at the other end. Now he's a bit anxious, thinking maybe someone’s checking if the house is empty to plan a robbery. I told him it’s probably just scammers from India trying their luck. I advised him that if anyone does talk, he should ask them to send a written message since they already have his number, and then just hang up straight away.

Somebody rang me up claiming I had a £119 refund for a washing machine and asked for my bank details to sort the payment. I told them if it was legit, they’d just put the money back into the account they took it from. They tried to argue they couldn’t do that, so I said they should send me a letter instead and then ended the call.

I got a call from this number, background loud like some busy call centre, and they asked if I was "Mr ****". I said yes, and then they said they were from the Department of Homecare Appliances and that I was owed a refund of £119. I asked what appliances they meant, but the person got a bit nervous and just kept repeating that I had to get the refund quickly. I didn't get any further and just blocked the number after that.

Fraud alert! If you get scammed, make sure to report it straight to the police through their fraud database. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and find the page on ‘police.uk’. Navigate to the section for reporting phishing scams and carefully read all the info provided. Then put in the details of the scam, including any links or websites involved. You don’t need to sign up or share personal info unless you’ve actually lost cash due to the scam. The only way for the police to track and fight these scams is if everyone reports every suspicious call or message they get.

Are these cheeky blighters really phoning just anyone at random? I’m based in London and received a call this morning from 0161 5202118, which followed the same annoying routine as the others mentioned here. I recognised it as a scam straight away. From what others have mentioned, this appears to be one of those dodgy phone scams. There are some glaring warning signs, like them requesting your banking information. The person on the line had a distinctly Indian accent, and they didn’t hesitate to ask for my address either. To top it all off, they were trying to rush me into making a hasty decision. I picked up the call, recognising the number as being from Manchester since I have a few acquaintances in that neck of the woods. Oddly enough, the moment I said hello, the caller just terminated the call.

Received a call from the TPS, but they didn’t utter a word before ending the call. I’ve been bombarded with that pesky washing machine scam on multiple occasions now, and my patience is wearing thin. I reckon I should just give them a piece of my mind!

Got a call from a woman who sounded like she had a bit of an accent, said she was ringing from some home company. She claimed I’d been charged too much for my washing machine warranty - but I don't even have one! Told her off quite sharply and ended the call. Pretty sure it was one of those refund scams.

She called saying I was owed a £129 refund for washing machine insurance. When she asked for my bank details, I told her to send a cheque instead. Then she said she couldn’t post a cheque for anything under £100. I reminded her she said the refund was more than £100, and after that she just cut the call off.

The number 01615202118 has rung me the past couple of nights around 7:45 when I’m eating tea. Normally I just let it ring till it stops 'cos I don’t wanna answer. No voicemail or anything left either. After checking out the comments here, looks like it’s some sort of scam. If they call back and I pick up, I’m gonna tell them right away to their face that they’re scammers, then just hang up.

Someone called from abkund about giving us a refund on a warranty we never even had. Complete nonsense really. We're ex-directory and signed up with TPS, so no clue how they managed to get hold of our number.

Got a call from someone pretending to be from a homecare appliance cover service, which I never signed up for. They tried to pull a refund scam and asked for my bank details. I told them to just refund the money to the account they supposedly took payment from, and then they just hung up on me. Total fraud.

Got a call about some sort of warranty overcharge on my washing machine, which was weird cos it came with a free 5-year warranty and that was that. Sounds like a total scam to me, plus I could hear a noisy call centre in the background. When they asked about the extra payment, I joked about donating it to charity - not sure if that threw them off but they went quiet for a sec. Ended the call after that, couldn’t be bothered with it.

Got a call supposedly from "homecare" but it wasn’t an Indian call centre like they claimed. They said they wanted to refund me for an extra payment I made on my washing machine protection plan. When I asked them to put the money back into the same bank account, they said they didn’t have those details. I told them flat out they were scammers and it was shameful. Then they just hung up on me.

I received a rather peculiar call earlier today from 01615202118, claiming to be from Homecare. The chap informed me that there was some mix-up regarding an overcharge of £119 on my washing machine warranty. He then asked me for my sort code and account number to supposedly process the refund. Naturally, I inquired how he came by my details, and wouldn’t you know it, he hung up right then and there! Definitely a scam, if you ask me! Beware everyone!

I can’t believe how long they have held onto or maybe shared my info. Years back, I accidentally chatted with someone trying to scam me. They wrote down my name as Julia, which isn’t right, so now whenever someone tries asking for Julia M…… I know it’s dodgy. It was about some supposed washing machine refund deal.

I've had enough of them calling me every single day even after I told them to stop. It's crazy how they can just keep bothering folks like this without any consequences. When I demanded to speak to the manager and asked for their contact details, they just cut me off and ended the call.

Got a random call from a bloke with a South Asian accent claiming his name was ‘Alex’ and he was ringing about a ‘warranty repair’. He told me my washing machine warranty had run out. I asked, ‘What washing machine exactly, Alex?’ His answer? ‘Your washing machine!’ Seriously? I had to clarify I meant the brand. Next thing, ‘Alex’ just dropped the call. Complete waste of time. Avoid these so-called warranty scammers from South Asia. Just don’t engage, hang up straight away and block the number.

I got a call from someone saying they were from the home care refund team, claiming I'd been wrongly charged £119 for a washing machine warranty. I told them my insurer was different but she insisted their firm handles refunds and it had to be settled that day. When I refused to give my bank details and requested a cheque instead, the call suddenly cut off. Quite suspicious if you ask me!

Apparently, I've been told I paid too much for Home Care Domestic Appliance services, which I never even signed up for. They called and said they need my bank info to refund me. Even though I never gave any details, they somehow had my name and where I live. Their accent was hard to catch and understand. When I said I’d prefer a cheque since they already know my address, they kept insisting I had to provide my bank details.

The lady on the phone was talking about giving me back £119 I apparently paid too much for a washing machine a long time ago, but I didn’t quite catch the company’s name. When I asked if she could send the refund by cheque, she asked for my IBAN details. I wasn’t having it and told her to quit with the scams and find a real job instead.

Today, on the 12th of April, I had a couple of phone calls: - The first was from 0161520 1964 at 09:37 am - The second came from 0161520 2118 at 4:38 pm During the first call, the caller inquired if I was a Mr Dyre, who I understand used to reside at this address. I informed them that Mr Dyre was the homeowner over five years ago, at which point the line went dead. As for the second call, there was no response; I greeted with a "Hello," and then, just like that, the connection was lost. I've encountered this sort of thing a few times over the past year, although not from these specific numbers. Oddly enough, they always seem to be searching for Mr Dyre.

Another straightforward 'refund' con artist on the line! The caller was quite brazen, leaving no room for misunderstanding. I reckon it’s worth calling out these chancers every single time; they seem to shy away from ringing back once they've been exposed. I've noticed a drop in these calls this year, and I suspect it’s down to the fact that I don’t simply hang up but rather challenge them directly.

I was expecting a refund of £125 for my washing machine warranty. When I inquired about the company name, they were rather evasive and couldn't give me a straight answer. I recently received a rather suspicious call stating that I was entitled to a refund of £119.38 for a washing machine warranty. I told them I don't even purchase warranties, but they kept insisting and sought my banking information. When I inquired about the make of the washing machine, they promptly claimed it was a Bosch! I informed them that I've never owned such an appliance! They continued to press for my details, but I flat-out refused to share anything. I reiterated that I don’t bother with warranties; I just prefer to buy a new one if the old machine gives up the ghost. When I requested a cheque instead, they replied that it wasn't possible. I've now blocked their number!
