Got a call saying they wanted to talk to our accounts team. They mentioned an issue with our gas bill but only revealed the company after I pressed. Said they were from British Gas and that the direct debit coming up would be higher than usual because the postcode they had was incorrect. They wanted me to verify our correct postcode. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call saying they were from Western Power about a problem with my smart meter. They then started telling me my bill was wrong and I'd have to pay more. Total scam, don’t believe a word they say and just end the call straight away!

I got a call from this number too, and it was definitely a scam. They asked me to verify some MPAN details - something to do with switching my energy provider, they said. I spoke to a woman with an Indian accent. The problem is, you only find out it’s dodgy after you’ve already answered the call and then look the number up using 1471 or something. Very sneaky.

I got a call from a bloke claiming to be with SSE, the gas company. He somehow had our meter numbers since we’re a business and insisted there’s a mistake on one of our bills. He was really pushy and kept asking for details, but when I told him he must have all that info on his screen already, he just kept going on trying to get more from us. We ended up hanging up, then called SSE ourselves to check and they said they never contact customers like that. Be careful out there, these scammers are everywhere. If you get a call like that, best just to hang up straight away.

Had a call from EON claiming they’d overcharged us and wanted us to verify some info. They came across as really aggressive and quite rude. We asked them to send an email instead but they just ended the call after that.

Got a call from a woman claiming she was with Drax energy, said she needed to confirm my mpan and even used my company’s name. I called Drax afterwards and searched the number online, turns out it’s not their number at all. Then she rang back from 07964101859 and asked for my phone numbers again, but when I questioned her, she just hung up. Do not share anything with them!

Asked for a meter reading, but said their system was down so couldn’t check anything. When I said I’d only provide info once everything was confirmed and told him to call back later, he just told me to **** off and hung up on me. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

She said there was a problem with the postcode on our account and that the old account linked to our address hadn’t been closed properly, and apparently we might owe for two years worth of energy. She kept probing for details about our meter and tariff, even though she seemed to know quite a lot already - no clue where she got that from. She was pretty insistent and kept phoning asking the same questions. Had to block the number eventually!

Got a call from a bloke called Jake, sounded Indian, on 0161 520 1354. He said he was from Total Energy and claimed there was some kind of system glitch. He asked me to double-check all my bills and meter readings. Feels a bit fishy to me - anyone else had this? What’s the scam here, does anyone know what they’re after? I told him he should already have all that info and asked straight if he was a scammer. He quickly denied it, said “Not at all, ma’am.” Still, not too sure I trust it.

Had two calls from someone claiming to be from "SSE". The first one said they received a meter reading from my "smart meter" but said it was wrong. Funny thing is, I don't even have a smart meter! Then the second call said my postcode was apparently incorrect. I told them honestly I couldn't be bothered with it. Both times, as soon as I said something, they just cut me off. If you try calling the number back, it’s not a real one. Total scam, don’t waste your time.

Yesterday, I got loads of calls saying my supply number was wrong. They gave me a supply number that didn’t even line up with mine. I kept telling them it was wrong, but they didn’t listen. One bloke even passed me onto his manager but that didn’t make a difference. I tried to explain we’d need to get something sent in by post or email before moving forward. Then this morning, I got another call about the same thing. In the end, the guy just hung up on me. Proper frustrating!

Got a call from some bloke named Dave, said he was from "sse". He was banging on about our firm’s postcode not being right when they took the meter reading, said it might cause us to get cut off.
