I got a call from someone saying they were from the council but it felt fishy, like a scam or something. Definitely not legit, so watch out if you get a call like that!

They rang me at 8:24 this morning, but I was a bit slow to answer. Then, they called again at 16:35, claiming to be from Just Living and wanting to discuss some household matters. I made it clear that I don’t entertain such inquiries over the phone. However, she launched straight into her sales pitch, and I had to raise my voice to get her to halt. I insisted she shouldn't contact me again and demanded my details be taken off their list. She claimed this was my first call from them, but I swiftly corrected her and warned that if they tried to reach me again, I'd have to report them for GDPR violations. I didn’t catch all the rude remarks she hurled my way before she disconnected the line.

Some bloke with an Indian accent rang up saying he was from Microsoft and there was something wrong with my PC. The thing is, I don’t even own a computer! I made it perfectly clear I wasn’t interested and told him to get lost in no uncertain terms.

I received a call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft, insisting that I had inadvertently downloaded some dubious files that supposedly contained malware and hacking tools. They even prompted me to sit in front of my computer so they could demonstrate this alleged issue. I can't help but think it was an attempt to guide me through installing their malware and gain control over my system. I understand that the pandemic has put a strain on many, leading to job losses and other hardships, but I’m diligently working to earn my keep. So, I kindly ask - please refrain from this sort of deceitful behaviour.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from Microsoft. The number was from Manchester but she said she was in London. When I asked about the London weather, she suddenly got quiet and didn’t want to go on with the call. I reckon everyone should ask about the weather - it’s obvious that bit isn’t in their script! Bit of funny payback on these scammers, really.

Usually, I only let calls ring through automatically if the number’s on my green list. Anyone else has to say who they are before I pick up or block the number. I’ve been using this “True Call” system for a while now. This was actually the first con call that slipped past it all - most times, the scammers just hang up when they hear they’ve got to identify themselves before I talk to them.

So this bloke called Brian and said who he was. I just groaned and mumbled “Hi Brian” back, then suddenly there was this weird buzzing noise and the call dropped. The line was rubbish, sounded like he was speaking with an accent from abroad and there was a lag before he responded. Totally feels like a scam to me.

They started saying there were issues with my internet, which isn’t true, so I just ended the call. Then they rang back asking why I’d cut them off.
