I got a really upsetting call from a guy speaking with an Indian accent, claiming I’d dodged tax and that my belongings were about to be frozen and the cops were after me. He said if I paid up right away, I could have a chat with HMRC and maybe even get my money back. The bloke was really pushy and menacing. It would be awful if they tricked an elderly or vulnerable person with this. I’ve made sure to report it to HMRC.

About 18 hours ago, this number tried to ring me but I just ignored it. I thought I'd look it up here before calling back, and I'm really relieved I did. I've gone ahead and flagged the number as a "Scam" on my phone now, just to be safe if they try again.

Watch out for these fraudsters! I got the most terrifying call ever from someone pretending to be the HMRC. They said I was under investigation for tax fraud and owed £5000, threatening court action straight away. They even asked if I had a solicitor and if I knew about the case against me. I was genuinely shaken but asked for a moment to verify the number. As soon as I called them out for being scammers, the guy started telling me the police were on their way. The caller had an Indian accent. Honestly, these people are the worst scammers I've come across!

I called the number back and it was absolutely terrifying. The call got routed to somewhere abroad and the person on the other end started yelling at me, saying I had to listen and that I was in danger of losing all my belongings. I honestly think an older person or someone vulnerable wouldn't be able to handle that kind of intimidation.

Got a call early Saturday around 8:15 am from a UK number. An American-sounding woman said she was Rachel Scott from HMI Customs and Excise. She claimed it was urgent and asked if I or my lawyer could get in touch right away. Seems like it might be some kind of scam to me. I usually ignore calls from numbers that aren’t saved in my phone, but I have one contact saved as “DON’T PICK UP”. If that same number shows up again, I use the options that pop up on the screen to deal with it.

Got a missed call from this number a while ago. I called back straight away without checking any messages. A guy with a strong Indian accent answered and started telling me what I supposedly owed, telling me not to cut him off. After about half a minute, I told him to send the details by email instead. He didn’t ask for my email and just said I should reach out to the local cops. Only then did I listen to the voicemail, which was this Rachel Scott woman speaking in a thick American accent, warning me not to ignore her and saying it was urgent. Definitely seems like harassment to me.
