Got a call out of the blue with some dodgy spam trying to push stuff hard-sell style and it felt pretty dodgy and illegal to me.

Got a voicemail from what sounded like an American woman claiming to be an HMRC customs officer, telling me or my solicitor to get in touch right away. It was a bit worrying at first, but after having a quick look on Google, I figured it was a scam, so there's no way I’m calling back. The number showed up as a Manchester one.

Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, but they didn’t leave any voicemail. Seems like they really didn’t want me to find out who it was.

When I picked up the phone and said hello, all I got was a robotic voice saying goodbye! I then tried ringing back the same number, but the line just disconnected straight away.

This number only gave me one ring and I’m not sure if it’s one of those sneaky scams where they hope you call them back on a pricey line. Tried looking up who owns it but came up empty.

Had pretty much the same thing happen to me. Number looked proper, based in Manchester, UK. They said they were from HMRC and started threatening me with court and stuff, even asked if I had a lawyer. It's baffling how they manage to use a genuine number like that. Feels like no one’s really tackling this problem. Definitely a risky situation.

The phone rang and went straight to voicemail, but they just hung up without saying anything!

Got a call on 30th July 2019 at around 12:56 from an American lady using an automated message, just like loads of others I've had. I didn’t pick up and now gonna block the number. It’s a typical voice phishing trick - all urgent, pushy with threats and stuff. The weird bit was the aggressive American accent, when it was supposedly something to do with the UK - total giveaway!

I got a call saying I’d face legal trouble if I didn’t ring back. Total scam, no doubt about it. Don’t fall for it!

Got a voicemail saying it was Officer Rachel Scott from HMRC, but the accent was totally American which seemed off. She said I needed to get back to them quick and gave a number, 0161 519 8708, as the direct line to her dept. They warned that if I or my lawyer didn’t respond, I’d be dealing with legal trouble. Sounds like a blatant scam to me.

Got a call from 01615198708Ronnie Cooper id:1869438 with that same spiel, sounding Indian. I went ahead and rang back, but when I tried to ask stuff, he just couldn't give me proper answers and ended the call.

Some woman named Rachel Scott from HMRC called me, sounded all American and pretty pushy. She kept saying I had to ring back immediately or I'd get into trouble or something. Nah, I'll just pass on that one, cheers.

Got a missed call the other day and when I checked my voicemail, there was this robotic female voice with an American accent claiming to be “Officer Rachael Scott from HM Revenue and Customs.” The message sounded urgent, saying I had to ring her division right away on 0161 519 8708 or else face serious legal trouble. It was really threatening and quite scary if you didn’t know better, but obviously a scam. I blocked the number straight away and made a note of it so I can report both numbers. Some people might freak out and believe it though.

I saw a front page story on the Daily Mail earlier this year about HMRC tax scam call centres operating out of the Indian subcontinent. We should really join forces and write to our MPs and phone companies to demand they do something about it - maybe even push for raids by Indian and Pakistani military police. Some kind of compensation for the victims wouldn’t go amiss either.

My dad got a call earlier from someone claiming to be Rachel Scott from HMRC, warning him to call back or there’d be legal trouble. It sounded really intimidating, but what threw me off was the American accent! Honestly, it felt quite scary when I heard it directly. I had a look into the number and it’s definitely not an official Manchester HMRC line. I’m pretty sure this is a scam - no surprise people fall for it with the way they try to scare you.

Got a message claiming to be from HMRC asking me to urgently ring back for someone called Harry Jackson. I looked up the number 01615198708 and turns out it’s a scam. They’re clearly just trying to make easy money off people. Be careful and make sure you verify who you’re dealing with before sharing any details. Don’t get caught out!

So this guy with a thick Indian accent called claiming to be Steven Wyatt. I straight up told him he was a con and to never call me again or I’d report him. He kept interrupting, saying I should let him finish talking. Then he started going on about me supposedly owing HMRC nearly £5,000! I just laughed in his face, called him a scammer, and slammed the phone down. Total waste of time!

Last night I got another call on my phone from someone claiming to be Rachael Scott from HMRC, but with an American accent - totally obvious scam. Honestly, it’s ridiculous that BT lets their phone lines be used for these fraud scams. They should really crack down on it.
