Got a phone call from some bloke saying he was from HMRC, claiming I was going to get arrested over unpaid debts. They told me to hit '1' if I wanted to know more. Seems like their way of sorting out who's falling for it quick. Anyone wise to these scams won’t press ‘1’, but the naïve probably do. If I get another call like that, I’m gonna press ‘1’ and keep the conversation going just to waste their time. Proper scumbags.

Received a call yesterday from someone claiming to be from the tax office, insisting I had a debt of more than £4000. I told them where to shove it, quite frankly!

I got this call out the blue about some huge income tax debt over £3000. They kept pushing me for loads of details and threatened that if I didn’t answer or sort it out, I could end up with a warrant out for my arrest and get nicked within two days. Quite frightening stuff but sounded totally dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone named Rachel Scott, warning me to ring back with a lawyer ASAP or else there'd be trouble. I decided to call them back and was suddenly hit with a claim I supposedly owed £3,500 in taxes. I told them I’ve been paying taxes on my wages regularly for over 18 years in the same job and asked how that could be true. The guy on the other end started stammering, said he needed to look into it, and then just hung up on me.

If this was one of those 'Rachel Scott' scams, I’ve had a bunch of those on my landline before. It’s hilarious how they use that recorded scary message, and that she’s supposed to be from HMRC but has a full-on American accent. I called them back and they claimed I supposedly owe HMRC about £5000, and said it could jump to around £25000 once it goes to court. I asked them to send me the paperwork since I haven’t got anything in the post yet. They warned that the police will deliver the papers when they come to arrest me, and suggested I get myself a good lawyer. I told them I’ll be waiting for the police to turn up. Pretty obvious this is a scam!!

What muppets! I can’t believe anyone still buys into this nonsense, it’s dead obvious. I get calls like this all the time and if I’m not busy, I ring them back just to mess about and waste their time before giving them a mouthful of swear words.
