On Friday, I got a call on my work phone from this number, with the caller pretending to be from HMRC. They were spouting some rather alarming threats about legal action and even went so far as to advise me to have my solicitor on standby, ending with a rather cheeky "good luck" in the voicemail. It’s high time these sorts of calls were put to an end!

I got a call from 0161 519 1919, someone named Officer William Spencer supposedly from HMRC, giving an automated warning about legal trouble. I’m well aware HMRC wouldn’t contact people like that, so it’s obviously a scam. Glad there’s a site like this to double-check things and ease your mind.

Yup, this is defo a scam - no surprises there. Today I got a call from 0161 519 1919 with a robot guy saying he was "William Spencer from HMRC". He said it’s urgent and I or my lawyer had to ring back quick or deal with “serious consequences”. I double checked by calling HMRC straight from the number on their site and they said it wasn't them at all, plus they never leave messages like that. Apparently, they’ve reported it to their security team.

It’s the exact same group calling again like last week. Honestly, people should just take a moment from their busy day and ring them back to throw a spanner in their scam. Or just ignore it and let them keep running their con on the vulnerable.

Got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC - it’s happened to me a few times now, and honestly it still freaks me out. I just block the number straight away, best to be safe!

Totally a scam! I decided to call them back just to mess about and waste their time. The bloke on the line asked for Mr Smith, but I didn't give him any details. Then I asked if he enjoyed tricking people. He questioned why I'd bother calling back if I knew it was a scam. I told him I just wanted to waste his time so he couldn’t scam anyone else. Then he said, "You really think I’m the only one here?" and cut me off. Just a heads up to everyone - this is definitely a scam!

About five minutes ago, I got a call from 01615191919. I usually only pick up if I recognise the number since both my mobile and landline show caller ID. After seeing the reviews here, it's clear this is a scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC saying the government had slashed the personal tax allowance to £7000 and that I owed back tax. They threatened court action for unpaid tax. When I asked why I never got a letter, they gave me an old address I haven’t lived at in over 6 years. That’s when I cottoned on to the scam and they went on about the police coming to arrest me!! Such dodgy behaviour.

I recently had a rather annoying experience with this number that rang my mobile. I declined the call, but they went ahead and left a voicemail regarding HMRC that sounded rather urgent, instructing me to return the call on another number. I mean, we all pay for our voicemail services, so this is utterly ridiculous! It's really about time we took a stand against these fraudsters and found a way to block them from our phone lines here in the UK. I reckon it's wise for everyone to keep a record of such voicemails and report these nuisances to the ICO - that way, they might take legal action and help us all reclaim the costs associated with these unwelcome messages.

I've received a call from this number, and it was just like the others I've read about-definitely a scam, with some rather intimidating threats thrown in. Be cautious!

Honestly, just give them a ring back and mess with them! The scammers are the ones who end the call and block you. That’s totally what they want you to do, so don’t fall for it!

I just received a call that went straight to my voicemail. It was a robotic voice claiming to be 'Officer William Spencer' from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. He droned on about potential legal repercussions if I didn't get back to them promptly, even saying something like, ‘Prepare to confront the legal ramifications.’ Clearly a scam, but I can't help but think about those who might be more anxious or susceptible to this sort of thing. I say, just hang up, delete the message, and definitely block the number. What a nuisance!

I just received a rather alarming voicemail mentioning Patricia O'Connell, who happens to be an editor I had a brief correspondence with ages ago. Quite the coincidence, wouldn't you say? The message, supposedly from HMRC customs, urged either myself or my solicitor to return the call. They warned of possible customs litigation if I chose to disregard it. I've swiftly come to this site to share my experience. Judging by the comments I've seen below, it seems like a right swindle. There's no way I'm dialing that number, especially with those outrageous charges!

Just like everyone else, I got this scary automated call with an American lady telling me my solicitor needs to contact HMRC straight away or I’ll be in serious trouble. Totally bogus. I’m flagging it as dangerous 'cos I can see how something like this could really worry older folks or anyone who’s vulnerable.

Got a strange voicemail from someone claiming to be HMRC, said if I didn’t ring back or if my lawyers didn’t get in touch, I’d have to deal with legal trouble. These scammers work nonstop, day in and day out. Honestly, reporting them, blocking numbers, and refusing to answer hasn’t made a dent. You know what? It’s about time people fought back. Loads of folks getting scammed should start ringing them back, driving them crazy with either auto-dial apps or just daft nonsense. Seriously, that’s the only way to throw a spanner in their works.
