I got a call from a firm claiming they were my dishwasher warranty folks, saying my cover was about to expire. I spent a good ten minutes asking loads of questions just to drag it out, then told them I only bought the dishwasher a fortnight ago. They hung up on me in the end.

Got another call today about some expired warranty. They were asking for a bloke who apparently doesn’t live here anymore - he might have had this phone number ages ago, like over a decade back? They also mentioned a washing machine being at his place, which isn’t mine. I told them they should send a letter to him since they’ve got the wrong number, but after reading the other comments, I’m not holding my breath that they’ll do that!

I got a call from Premier Protect about a washing machine warranty, they said it was £99 a year with a deal of three years for two payments. Then they handed me over to the sales team to get my card info. When I said no to giving my credit card, they just ended the call on me! Honestly, watch out - don’t get caught out by this!

On the 6th of December 2019, around half past five in the evening, this number rang up an elderly person who’s quite vulnerable.

Got a call not long ago from someone claiming my washing machine warranty was up and that the company who made it had passed on my info to them.

So, this guy called Adam Johnson, said he was from the ‘Sky protection Team’ and told me his birthday was 18th Feb 1992. He sounded pretty convincing at first. But when I told him if I phoned Sky and asked for him by name, I’d get through, he quickly twigged I wasn’t falling for it and just ended the call. Felt like a scam attempt to me.

Don’t be fooled, this firm named Premier Protect isn’t connected to Sky at all. They claim to sell Sky insurance, but they’re not calling from Sky or D&G, which is the legit provider charging £9 a month for priority repair or replacement. They try to say your direct debit will expire and push you to make a one-off discounted payment, then switch you to a manager who offers an extra discount to get you to pay right away. FYI, if you have a Sky Q box, it actually belongs to Sky and any repairs or replacements are handled by them automatically.

This outfit is known as Premier Protect, and they’re not affiliated with Sky whatsoever. They provide insurance for Sky services, yet their calls are not coming from Sky itself or their official insurer D&G, which has a fee of £9 a month for expedited repair or replacement services. They like to claim that your direct debit is about to lapse and urge you to make a one-off payment at a reduced rate, only to transfer you to a supervisor who promises an additional discount if you settle immediately. Oh, and just a heads up, if you've got a Sky Q box, that remains the property of Sky, meaning any repairs or replacements are their responsibility.

Got a call from a friendly sounding woman who started asking about my home electrical gadgets. I told her we’d just got a message from John Lewis saying the warranty on our washing machine was nearly up. If it’s someone familiar, they have other ways to get hold of me, so honestly, I couldn't care less about that number either.

They’re just using internet-based phones (like from a computer) so they can fake any number they want to appear on your screen. Loads of these numbers belong to real businesses or people, making it really hard for phone providers to block them. Never ever give out your bank info to these types.
