This number rang me, so I picked up and just said hello, then they hung up within a few seconds.

In the background, I could hear the typical chatter of a call centre. The man on the phone spoke with an Indian accent and asked me how I was doing. When I asked who he was, he said his name was Simon, representing some solicitors I’d never heard of. He then went on about some compensation amount around four thousand, three hundred something. I told him his approach was really awful, especially given the situation we’re all in, but he just cut me off. Honestly, I wish I’d kept him talking longer to hopefully waste his time and protect others who might be tricked. Definitely sounded like a busy telemarketing operation. Quite worrying.

Got a call from someone saying they worked for some traffic office, saying I'd had a crash and the other person's insurer was onto them. I played along and told them I'd died in the accident and was amazed to still be able to answer my phone from beyond the grave. The caller laughed, called me a zombie, and hung up on me :)

My 9 year old daughter has had her phone ring loads of times from this number. No idea how they managed to get hold of it since she only shares it with close family and maybe one or two mates!

Got a call on 27/1/20 around 11:30 from a woman with a British accent. She asked if I'd been in any recent car crashes, and after I said no, she went on for a bit longer. She wouldn't say which company she was from but claimed the accident data was from some "road traffic statistics department". Then a bloke with an Indian accent took over, telling me the exact same story. Total rubbish, but what annoyed me most was that they dialled a mobile I barely use - a "burner" phone with no credit ever put on it. I've only ever given that number to the NHS and one other company, so clearly someone's selling or leaking info. Definitely going to look into this more.
