As someone with a registered disability, I deal with anxiety and depression, so I find these automated calls incredibly distressing. When you attempt to return the call, you're met with a voicemail from someone with a heavy accent, which adds to the frustration. It’s high time these individuals were identified and held accountable for their actions, even facing imprisonment if necessary.

You see, my business faced some cash flow complications last year while I was anxiously awaiting a rather lengthy delayed payment, which ultimately impacted my ability to settle a hefty tax obligation of around £70,000. I was in constant contact with HMRC, trying to sort out the situation during that difficult period. Typically, HMRC doesn’t reach out from an unknown number and leave a robotic message lacking in specifics; it’s odd to say the least. I’d advise against answering and simply block the number instead. What a farce!
