Somebody told me that my identity got stolen and they did illegal things pretending to be me.

Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying i owed a fine and legal steps were coming. I phoned them back from my office and they asked for my personal info. i just wanted to know if they’d sent me anything in writing first and then they just cut me off. rang again and this time a different person answered, but when i asked the same thing they ended the call too. blocked the number now and i'd advise anyone not to fall for their tricks trying to steal your info.

I didn’t pick up, but they left a message claiming to be from HMRC about some sort of illegal thing I was involved in. Definitely don’t bother calling back on this number.

Got a call on my work mobile from someone with an American accent, a recorded message warning me that I was facing charges for tax fraud. It told me to call back a certain number to sort it out. I looked up the number but couldn’t find anything legit. They claimed to be from a government department handling tax and customs matters. Turns out it was just a scam on a government-related phone line. Really dodgy.
