Got a couple of calls from numbers I didn't recognise in the past hour, didn't pick up. The numbers were 0116 279674 and 0116 2383434. I’m guessing they're either spam or some kind of sales calls.

They keep telling me I’m the one at fault in a car crash. When I ask who they’re trying to reach and what amount they want, they just end the call. I get these calls about three times every week. Blocking the number doesn’t help at all. Anyone got any idea how to put an end to this?

I didn’t pick up at first, so I rang them back. They sounded surprised but quickly tried to stick to their script, pretending to be from HMRC. The guy had a thick Chinese accent and answered with the name “Morrissey.” When I asked why he’d called, he just kept repeating that he was from HMRC. Eventually, he gave up and hung up when he must’ve realised I wasn’t fooled.

Like others mentioned, it was an American-sounding robot voice talking about HMRC. HMRC would never reach out like that. This is definitely a scam call and you should just ignore and block it.

Got a threatening call saying it was from HMRC and was told to ring a different number. It’s pretty sad that HMRC’s old aggressive ways make folks think these are legit calls. This is the third time in three months I’ve had one claiming to be from them.

Got a missed call from this number and a voicemail claiming I owe tax and am under house arrest. They tried ringing me back, and when I answered, a woman said I was under house arrest. I just hung up. How do these people find your number and get away with stuff like this? Just ignore it, folks.
