I've received a handful of missed calls and some automated voicemails that seemingly come from HM Revenue and Customs, urging me to return the call and speak to someone called Kathy Moore - who's speaking in an American accent! They’ve been quite ominous, suggesting that if I don't get back to them, I'll face some sort of repercussions. Quite bizarre, isn't it?

Received a dubious call claiming to be from HMRC, but it was clearly a scam. The voice was automated with an American twang-definitely not the real deal!

Got a call from some dodgy American sounding robot saying I owe HMRC loads of money and need to get a solicitor or else. It was fully automated. Don’t return the call if you get one, just hang up straight away. Total scam alert!

I received a call from a woman who had an American accent, claiming that we-or our solicitor-must return the call to this number regarding someone named Cathy Moore from HMRC. She ominously warned us that failure to do so could lead to some serious repercussions! Quite concerning, to say the least!

I got this automated call from a woman named Cathy Moore, she said I owed some tax and needed to contact my solicitor immediately. If I didn’t, apparently there’d be serious trouble. The voice sounded American, really suspicious.

Got a ring from this number saying I had to send £7000 by online bank transfer or some cop would turn up and lock me up for five years! Proper scare tactic. I’ve already let the HMRC Fraud folks know about it. Watch out for this kind of scam!

Got a call from some automated voice claiming to be HMRC. Honestly, it’s so frustrating because I worry that older or vulnerable folks might hear it and get really scared. Proper annoying stuff.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, but I didn’t pick up. Later they left a message with a really robotic voice saying it was “HMRC Officer Kathy Moor” and warned me not to ignore it. They told me to contact them directly or through a lawyer or else I’d face legal trouble. Honestly, I can’t see how anyone could be fooled by that nonsense!

Got a call this morning from what looked like HMRC but turned out to be scammers. Reported the number to the police straight away. If you get a call from this number, best to just block it or ignore completely. Don’t bother calling back and absolutely don’t pay any money they say you owe!

Got a call saying I owed about £4000 and needed a solicitor, but something felt off. So I rang HMRC directly on 0300 200 3300 to check, and they confirmed it was a scam. I also made sure to report the number. The caller tried to convince me by calling back from 0300 200 3887, which apparently shows up on HMRC's official site under Debt Management, but still felt fishy to me.

I got a robocall claiming to be from some HMRC investigation group, telling me to call them right away with my lawyer. When I dialled back, a bloke answered but didn’t mention HMRC and just asked why I was ringing. I asked for his full name, then he just hung up on me. Tried calling again and told him I record all calls coming to my landline, but he disconnected once more. Now I’m trying to check with HMRC to see who these lot really are.

So, just got off the phone with someone claiming to be from HMRC. They asked right away for my solicitor’s name, then told me I needed to get one straight away because apparently I’m being taken to court over unpaid taxes. They said there’s been a tax shortfall since 2015, nearly £5,000! I asked a bit more about it, and they told me to check with my workplace’s HR or accounts. When I explained I retired 10 years ago, the caller said they’d look into it and promised to ring me back, then just cut off the call really quickly. Strange.

Can't believe they didn’t even hide their number! I reckon I’ll just scribble it on the loo door at the nearest petrol station on the motorway. Should be a laugh seeing who calls next.
