A while back, I got a call from someone who seemed to already know I’d made a PPI claim years ago along with the company’s name. They told me I might be able to get some tax money refunded. It sounded dodgy, so I asked them to send me something in writing first. They then said they didn’t do that anymore, which made me cut the call straight away.

I was asked for my National Insurance number, but I turned it down. I mentioned that I’d dig into his business first. He suggested he could call me back tomorrow, but honestly, it all seems a bit dodgy. They already seem to possess some of my information, which raises my eyebrows. Got a call first from some place called Goodwin Barrett. I’ve dealt with them before. Then, I was told a firm called Claim My Tax, with the number 01615051757, was handling things for me. After that, I started getting texts and emails telling me to ring that number. When I tried looking it up, it showed up as potentially fraudulent. I called the number to find out why it was flagged like that, but the call was ended right away.

This bloke rang my phone, acted really rude and full of himself, knew my name and said it was about a PPI claim from 2019. I told him to just send an email or a letter instead. He got all annoyed, which isn’t very professional at all, and said that wasn’t an option. So I cut him off. Seriously, who’s handing out our personal PPI info to these lot? Feels like these scammers have got loads of our private details already, and that’s the real concern here!

I received a rather peculiar call earlier today from someone claiming to be with Barclays Bank. They mentioned something about a £2,000 sum I supposedly got from them years ago, but it completely slipped my mind. I thought it best just to hang up rather than get drawn into a conversation. The initial call came through at 14:56, but there were also a couple more attempts-one at 13:21 and another at 17:31-that I missed. Quite the curious turn of events, isn’t it?

Received a call last Friday from a firm claiming to be connected to HSBC regarding some funds supposedly owed to me.
