Got a letter from some Wilson Tarquin bloke about getting back PPI on an IVA I sorted out years ago. The IVA firm did their own checks on PPI back then cos of rule changes, so this just feels like another dodgy money grab. I've moved on from all that IVA hassle and don’t want it stirred up again. Gave them a ring and nicely told them to take me off their mailing list, they said they would but never even asked for my name! Weird, right?

I just got a letter from Addison Hunter saying there might be cases where I could get back charges I've paid before. It told me to call Freephone 0161 711 1267. I tried calling but was told the number isn't recognised. They did get my name correct but used my old address even though I moved about 5 years ago. It didn’t mention anything about an IVA, but I did have one a while back through Grant Thornton. I don’t reckon they’re at fault though. I’m starting to think maybe the court, where all IVAs are recorded and stored, might be the issue.

Addison Hunter. Got a letter from these guys saying: We know if you’ve had an IVA before, it can really limit your money situation, but there’s possibly some good news. Cheers for the tip. I set up an IVA with Grant Thornton more than 5 years back so they must have shared my address. I’m medically retired after having brain surgery about 5 years ago. Time to contact Surrey police, I think.

Hi, I just got off the phone with a really nice bloke named Joe from this number. I received a letter and called them before checking online. Just so folks know, it’s actually NOT a scam. They’re dealing with PPI claims for those who have been through IVAs and might’ve thought they couldn’t claim. It’s no win no fee, and they take 24% of whatever they recover for you. I’m expecting a pack in the post to check out. Thought I’d share here since I’ve actually spoken to the company and can fill people in on what it’s really about.

Got another letter from these guys today. They seem linked to some dodgy, unregulated DMP scam. Saw loads of worrying stuff about them on Moneysupermarket blogs, especially businesses tied to the same address. Best just chuck it in the bin. No use reporting as they’ve been running under different names since 2010 anyway.

I kept getting calls from a number in Manchester on my mobile, so I just went ahead and blocked them all. But now, I’ve received a letter on official ADDISON HUNTER headed paper. When I checked my phone, that number is definitely one I've already blocked. After doing some digging online, I came across these comments. Addison Hunter seem really persistent, but what puzzles me is how they got hold of my details and how they know about my IVA. Did Knightsbridge or Creditfix pass my info on? Honestly, I’m not sure who’s the one I should be mad at here?????

08002545071 and 08002545082 called me as well. Addison Hunter sent me a letter today outta nowhere. I checked my call log and both numbers are blocked already. Really don’t get how they got hold of my info or even knew I was in an IVA before. Honestly, it’s a bit creepy. Don’t reply to them, just bin the letters straight away.

Got the exact same letter saying I could get money back on an IVA. Had a look at the address and most of those firms have been shut down, and all but one that’s still running are owned by the same bloke. Checked him out on Companies House and he’s had loads of companies, but they've all been wound up. The guy’s definitely a repeat fraudster. Best not bother calling.

I’ve reported this to Trading Standards down in Hampshire and they said I should pass it onto Manchester Trading Standards as well. I’ve even been through an IVA handled by a firm in Manchester, so I thought I was all clear now but then outta nowhere these letters show up again.

Got a letter from Phillipson Hardwick, so I rang them up to ask why they were reaching out when I never gave consent under GDPR. They insisted they had permission, although not from me, and claimed they were registered with the FCA. I asked to speak to a manager instead of just an agent, but the manager didn’t actually want to chat. I’ve looked up Companies House and the FCA register and found no sign of them anywhere. I’m planning to report this to the police.

I got a strange letter from Phillipson Hardwick in Salford and it had this phone number on it. The thing is, I looked up the company and there’s no record of them at that address. The letter says something like ‘occurencies have been identified where you may now be entitled to the return of charges previously paid to you’, which makes me reckon it’s about PPI claims.

I got a call from someone saying they were from Phillipson Hardwick. But after having a quick look on the Financial Conduct Authority website and Companies House, I found out there's no such company registered. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust them at all!
