In the middle of an important meeting, I got three calls all within one hour. It's about time the government stepped in and did something about the phone companies handing out these numbers. Later the same day, they rang me again from the number 0161 464 9407. Pretty sure it was a scam, sounded like a dodgy foreign caller.

The woman on the line, who had quite a strong South Asian accent, was rather pushy and kept probing me for personal details like my name, age, and address. I firmly asked them to remove my number from their records.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying her name was Jenny, claiming she was from some market research firm. She gave me my real name and an old address which was a bit creepy. I told her straight up that wasn’t me and gave her a made-up name and postcode instead. She then asked about different insurance policies, like who I was with and how much I pay. After that, she started pressing for my age and house number. I kept feeding her fake details, but she kept circling back to trying to get my real name, address and age. When I refused to give in, she just ended the call.

This number rang me a couple of times within a couple hours today, but since we use BT’s call blocker and didn’t have the number saved, the phone never actually went off. They clearly weren’t ready to identify themselves, so we had no way to choose whether to pick up or not.
