10 yearsRang me at half eight in the evening. A bloke with a thick accent introduced himself as being from the Accident Investigation Bureau, claiming he was inquiring about an accident I’d encountered over the last three years. I asked him to clarify his company’s name, and he insisted it was the “Claims Management Company.” When I pressed him further regarding the actual company name, he just kept repeating the same line. In the background, I could hear a number of others engaged in similar chatter. As I swiftly navigated to the relevant webpage on my laptop, I quizzed him on whether his organisation was sanctioned by the Ministry of Justice to handle claims management services, which seemed blatantly obvious. He went a bit wobbly, mumbling, and continued badgering me about “the accident some individual at this address has experienced in the past three years.” Eventually, he handed me over to his supervisor. When I posed the same question, it was evident he was equally baffled. By that stage, I had looked up both of the names on the MoJ website, and neither of them appeared to be recognised as authorised for claims management. I pointed out to them that they were potentially engaging in a criminal act by providing these services without proper authorisation. They bounced me around for a bit before delivering a few choice words in something that sounded like an Indian dialect (I can only assume they were cursing at me), and then they abruptly cut the call. That’s definitely a number I’ll be reporting to the MoJ come Monday for potential prosecution. I highly recommend everyone else do the same - check out https://www.claimsregulation.gov.uk/search.aspx. If they’re not listed here, they’re committing offences by operating like this. Likewise, even if they are listed, cold-calling isn’t how legitimate businesses operate. It’s our duty as citizens to alert the MoJ if we encounter these con artists here: www.justice.gov.uk/global/contacts/cla ... ation/index.htm.Accident Investigation BureauClaims Management CompanyMinistry of JusticeMoJ10 yearsI received a call from 01614083407, and the moment I answered, there was nothing but utter silence. He was prattling on about some individual linked to this phone number who'd been in an accident in the past three years.
