Hi there, we received a call recently from the very same people, and we ended up being quite taken in by it! Unfortunately, we're experiencing some issues with our computer, which made us think it was all above board. We ended up handing over 55 euros, but now we’re quite concerned that they might still be accessing our credit card details. Is that even possible?? What steps should we take next?

I just received a call from these folks a little while back. They seemed to know quite a bit about us, which raised my eyebrows a tad. I've been caught out by similar tricks in the past, so I was on my guard this time and didn’t let myself get ensnared again. Best to stay cautious, I reckon!

What an absolute shambles! Honestly, these folks are a right nuisance, and it's beyond frustrating dealing with them. Richtek's support leaves much to be desired; they seem to be a real dodgy outfit. It’s always foreign number after foreign number, and let me tell you, the communication barrier is a nightmare. I can't fathom how they haven't sorted out proper English speakers. Honestly, Richtek, you need to get your act together!

Received a call from this number as well. The person on the other end was rather elusive and quite confrontational.

I’ve come across some rather dodgy phone calls from a company trying to bilk you out of money for software that’s utterly unnecessary. Now, let me make it crystal clear - your Microsoft firewall is absolutely FREE and part of your Windows package; it’s not something you should be coughing up cash for! Do not fork out a penny to these scammers. It’s wise to give the Office of Fair Trading a bell and report this shoddy practice straight away. Don't forget to reach out to your local Trading Standards too. Stay alert and keep yourself safe. Cheers, Jay

I recently received the same call. When I asked for their number, the person on the other end claimed to be a representative from Microsoft. I mentioned that we are registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), and just like that, they hung up on me. Quite dodgy if you ask me!

Not long ago, we had the very same call here in Ireland. A chap managed to get hold of my name, address, and phone number. We’ve always been a bit wary of these calls, to be honest. When we asked her for her number, she got rather shifty. The number displayed as private, which was a bit suspicious. To our surprise, she hung up rather abruptly after that!

Caution! Watch out for these con artists claiming to be from Microsoft! Just tell them to take a hike; Microsoft never reaches out to clients over the phone.

Absolutely! That's definitely a dodgy operation. I would highly recommend that you report your experience to the Office of Fair Trading. If we can gather enough complaints, these chancers might finally get the boot. Let's show them we won't stand for their nonsense! All the best, Jay.

In July, I forked out £75 for their services. I managed to get in touch with them via email just today, and apparently, someone was supposed to call us around noon. I'm wondering what steps we ought to take next, as they seem to present themselves as a legitimate business. Back in July, they remotely sorted out our computer, but now I’m left wondering if they could pull the same stunt again without us even being aware. What’s the best course of action here?

We've just had a call from someone claiming to be Claire from Richtek, based in Ireland. She insisted that we need to run a programme on our computer to fix some supposedly corrupted files on our Windows system. We told her that our computer is well protected and that we didn't feel comfortable trusting her claims. She went on to say she was calling from Manchester and even had information about our Windows identity, which raised even more red flags. It's bewildering how these individuals manage to obtain such details. We let her know that we'd get back to her once we'd done our research.
