4 yearsI received a call from someone purporting to be from "Curry's PC World", claiming they had various mobile phone offers at discounted rates. However, the whole exchange felt rather dodgy, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a scam. The chap on the line lacked credibility and just didn’t sound reliable in the slightest.Curry ' sPC World4 yearsGot two phone numbers that were pretty much the same, one ending in 1826 and the other 1689 (+44 161 394 1689). They kept calling one after the other, like the ringing would stop and then start again right away. In less than a minute, I had 2 calls from the 1826 number, 1 from the 1689 one, then another from 1826. Didn’t answer any, and have blocked both now. Really annoying!4 yearsOh, so you used some sort of VBScript with a visual interface to trace it backwards? Reverse tracking, right? Sounds like a bit of a clever trick!4 yearsReverse tracking? And what's this about a datafile? Sounds like you're dreaming!4 yearsFor the past few days, I've been getting loads of calls, about 12, all saying they're from O2. They come from different numbers but they all begin with 0161 394 and finish with things like 1377, 1689, 1711 and 1823. Got fed up and just blocked all of them now.4 yearsDefinitely a scam. They claimed to be from O2 but it felt off. Funny thing is, I actually called O2 myself earlier that day, and this call was totally different from the real one.4 yearsI never pick up calls from unfamiliar numbers, and I just block them straight away. Looking at the massive amount of complaints about these idiots, I’m glad I do. I’m bombarded with loads of emails every day, but just like scam calls, nothing seems to be done by ICO, Action Fraud, NCSC, Microsoft, Citizens Advice, 7726, or Which. It’s the little guy left powerless and constantly hassled. You’d think in this day and age it wouldn’t be so tough to track them down and take legal action! My emails seem to come mostly from the USA, so why can’t our authorities work with theirs to sort this out? It’s really frustrating and unfair!ICOAction FraudNCSCMicrosoftCitizens AdviceUSA4 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were 02 and could lower my bill. Definitely a scam, just trying to trick you.4 yearsComplete scam trying to fool you with fake bank PPI claims, saying they’ve got £2550 plus £1550 interest paid out by your bank. I told them my bank was “Bank of Paris” which obviously doesn’t exist, and they had no clue. Then they gave me some reference and ID numbers, claiming they never ask for card or bank details, saying the money was in a wallet? Then some guy with an Asian accent took over, asked me for those numbers, so I gave wrong ones to confuse him. He got mixed up and then wanted my phone number to check again. After that he gave me new ID and ref numbers, totally different from the first ones, and then said I wasn’t very good with tech stuff and that he’d help me access this wallet thing. Next, he told me to put my phone on loudspeaker (which made no sense), then go to the Play Store and download an app called Anydesk. That app lets them remotely control your phone to steal bank info, passwords, all that rubbish. These fraudsters seriously need to be stopped. Make sure to report them to the police and the Financial Conduct Authority.Bank of ParisPlay StoreFinancial Conduct Authority4 yearsGot one of those quiet calls again.
