Phone number ☎️ 01613941261 👆 is reported as a persistent and aggressive scam primarily impersonating HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). Callers use automated messages or threatening voices, often identifying themselves with fabricated names and demands for urgent contact to avoid legal action, arrest, or financial penalties. Many complain that blocking numbers is ineffective since they call from variations of similar numbers. Vulnerable individuals, especially the elderly, are targeted and frightened by these calls. Genuine HMRC communications would not operate like this. It is strongly advised to hang up, never provide personal information, report the number, and warn family or friends to avoid falling victim to this sophisticated fraud.

0161 394 1261 - Got a message claiming to be from HMRC saying I had to call back or face penalties or something. Tried calling the number from a hidden caller ID and got a guy with a foreign accent pretending to be an HMRC agent. When I asked why they were ringing me, he just asked for my phone number. Then when I questioned how I could be sure it was actually HMRC, he told me to check their website and then quickly ended the call. Don’t let these scammers stress you out, just hang up and move on.

I got a voicemail from someone saying they were Officer Amanda Taylor from HMRCustoms with an American accent. The message kept saying not to ignore it and to call back on 0161 394 1261 - said it twice. They warned about legal trouble if I or my lawyer didn't get in touch. Ended with "take care" which was weird. This would scare an elderly person for sure - it’s definitely a scam. DO NOT call that number back, just block and ignore it.

Its really frustrating that these phone firms just cant seem to block these scam calls. Lots of folks on here say they dont get caught, but i reckon some elderly or vulnerable people must be tricked and scared into complying, otherwise these scammers wouldnt bother carrying on. Theyre just thieving scumbags and honestly should be dealt with properly.

Just like others here, I got a call threatening legal action. A few days ago, someone from this same number told me there was a police officer ready to come and take all my stuff away. Got a robo voicemail claiming to be from HMRC saying I or a legal rep need to ring them back straight away about some urgent issue. Definitely not ringing back coz HMRC always contacts by letter or through the government gateway, never calls out of the blue like that. If you owe them anything, you’d know already. This morning I got a text from 01613941261 that gave me a right shock. When I rang back, a bloke answered calling himself Mark Victor and said he was from the Inland Revenue. He even gave me some ID number, 726486, and then started telling me not to interrupt because the call was being recorded. He claimed I owed unpaid tax from 2015, 2016, and 2017 - £3,000, which apparently had skyrocketed to £24,000 since I hadn’t contacted them. Then he went on about how all my cards would be blocked, the bank informed, and the police would be sent round to arrest me at 12.30pm. I was getting quite upset but told him I didn’t understand any of it and that I don’t owe tax, so I was hanging up. I reckon if I’d stayed on the line, he’d have tried to get me to pay up to avoid all that. It’s heartbreaking, especially for older people. Someone needs to do more to stop these awful calls.

Got a voicemail from some scammer saying I had to ring about my solicitor because I was involved in a tax probe.
