Got a call from this number today and honestly, I wish I hadn’t answered it. It was some guy pretending to be from HMRC, telling me I’m about to be prosecuted for dodging taxes. Total scam to frighten you and then steal your money!

These folks also tried to scam my uncle. It really freaked him out. Such a horrible experience. He ended up reaching out to his phone company, telling them to keep an eye on any strange charges or activity on his phone bill, you know, just to be safe.

Just got a call from 01613549859 claiming to be from HMRC. The voicemail sounded exactly like what others have mentioned, and it definitely gave off the same dodgy vibe. But how on earth did they manage to get my number? We actually sent a return to HMRC four days ago, it was sent by recorded delivery but also flew first class. Still no signature on it though. Makes me wonder if the parcel got nicked in transit, especially since our phone number was on the R30 form inside. Proper worrying if that’s the case.

Just like others have said, got a call from someone with an American accent pretending to be HMRC. They never rang back, but honestly these sorts of calls should be stopped - there’s bound to be someone gullible enough to fall for it.

This number kept ringing me non stop and I was quite worried by the message so I decided to call back. Everything seemed normal at first but then the person claimed I was behind on 5,000 quid, which seemed a weird way for hmrc to talk. I quickly told them I knew it was a scam and then they just hung up. I reckon this could seriously scare older folks, especially if they’ve just done their tax returns.

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC on a Saturday, which immediately seemed off. The voice on the line was some American recording - definitely didn’t sound right. What creeped me out the most was that it warned me not to phone back or else there’d be consequences, but then ended weirdly with a “Take care” that just didn’t fit. Luckily, it went straight to my answer phone. I checked 1471 and the call came from a 0161 number. Planning to report it to HMRC first thing Monday.

Around 2.15pm today (3rd June 2016), I got a call that was obviously a taped message. It had this slow, maybe American accent, like others have mentioned. The message felt quite intimidating. I checked the number using 1471.

I got a recorded message claiming they were from HMRC, telling me to call a number they said twice. They warned of serious consequences if I didn’t call. Surely HMRC wouldn’t just use a robot voice like that to get in touch? Seems a bit dodgy to me.

Got a recorded message from someone claiming to be HM Revenue, warning me not to ignore the call or face consequences. The voice was slow and ended strangely with “Take Care.” They said their name was Heather Grey and gave a “direct” number too. I can’t see HM Customs ending a call like that, seemed dodgy to me. Decided not to call back and just assumed it was another scam.

Seems like a scam pretty much the same as the ones from 0161 354 7069 and 0161 354 7088 - just different numbers but the same tactic.
