Today I got a call and it was one of those automated messages saying to press ‘1’ if I wanted to discuss my insurance. Didn’t sound right to me, so I just ended the call straight away. Seemed like a scam or something not legit.

Got a recorded voice telling me I’d won a prize draw, said I could pick between £500 or an iPad. They asked me to ring them back to claim it.

I’m convinced if you ring back, they’ll switch you onto a premium number and nick a fortune for a prize that isn’t real. Watch out for these cheats.

This number has been ringing me loads with missed calls recently. Today, I finally managed to pick up as I thought it could be someone trying to get in touch or returning my call, especially since it’s an 0161 area code near me. But it turned out to be a recorded message saying they had important info about my life insurance and I needed to press a number to talk to them. Problem is, I don’t even have any life insurance, so I’m pretty sure this is just a scam trying to catch people out. Definitely wouldn’t fall for it!

I saw a missed call on my mobile from this number, so I called it back from my home phone to find out what it was about. The automated voice told me I'd been entered into a free draw and they'd ring me again within 24 hours. Fingers crossed they don't start billing me for it.
