Got a call from an older woman claiming to be from ‘UTILITY WAREHOUSE’, saying I needed to ring back, gave me some reference number and asked for my meter readings. I rang up UW and they said it wasn’t anything to do with them.

Got a call from someone named Mark, claiming to be from LowriBeck for Scottish Power. He said he needed a reading from my solar panels along with the reference number, or wanted to set up a visit from an engineer to "inspect" them. When I questioned him a bit, he got a little uneasy but did drop my FIT number. Oddly, the email he gave was one I haven’t used in over six years. I told him I might just send a photo instead.

I just received a call claiming to be from Lowri Beck about a meter reading for Good Energy. It's true that Good Energy works with Lowri Beck, but Lowri Beck only ever ring to book a meter reading appointment, they don’t take the readings themselves over the phone. That’s something only your energy supplier should do. I’ve been with Good Energy for six years now and this was the first time their meter reading company has rung me, so it feels a bit dodgy. I’ll be getting in touch with Good Energy directly since they mentioned someone would come round to do the reading.

The woman actually called me by my name and claimed to be from my energy provider, saying she needed to discuss my meter readings. I wasn't free at the time so we agreed she'd ring back the next day. When I contacted my supplier to confirm, they had no idea about any of it. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM TO WATCH OUT FOR.

Got a message saying to call back about my gas meter. They claimed the utility company wants to send someone to check it because apparently they aren’t getting any readings. Got a call from a woman claiming she was with Ecotricity. When I questioned her, she changed it and said she was just ringing for them. I asked to speak to their Data Protection Officer and was left on hold for about 8 minutes, only to be told nobody was free and I should contact Ecotricity myself. I told them I already was but that I’m officially pulling any permission for them to keep my info. I’m not holding my breath for any action, but I’ll be reporting Ecotricity to the ICO for handing out personal info without clear consent.

Lowri Beck got in touch for PFP Energy about a meter reading. The call did make me uneasy at first, but it turned out to be legit. I could tell because the reading and the date popped up on my account a day or two afterwards. Looks like PFP Energy and maybe other energy firms ask Lowri Beck to handle this roughly once a year. I actually reported the call as harassing back on 26th July 2021 by mistake since it felt like a phishing attempt then!

Apparently it's cheaper for them to ring us up and get us to do it ourselves than sending someone out! I can only really talk about my own experience, but for me it was a legitimate call. I didn't pick up at first, but got a voicemail (might have been automated) from someone called Lowri Beck asking for a meter reading for PFP Energy. I checked with PFP and they said the call was genuine. They told me to ring them back on 0345 612 2121 and give a reference number. Nobody attempted to change my energy provider or anything like that.

Could be, but after a bit of digging I found out this company is legit but has had quite a few issues recently, even with the regulator. Loads of calls from this number, but I never bother to pick up! That's how it is nowadays, if you don’t recognise the caller you just ignore it. Out of curiosity, I always look them up here and it turns out to be another one of those power meter scams. Seriously, you'd think most people have caught on by now. I couldn’t catch which company it was, but they seemed to think I’m with AVRO. Actually, we moved back in 2018 and stopped using AVRO since they only handle dual fuel accounts now. I didnt pick up initially since the number was unfamiliar, but after reading all the comments, I called them back. Like others mentioned, it’s a firm doing calls for various energy providers to get meter readings by phone. The person on the line didn’t ask for any personal info once they said why they were calling. I just said I’d send my readings straight to my supplier online, and that was it. Got a call from some meter reader working with Avro energy. Seemed legit. They just asked to check my address and postcode, then took my electric meter reading. Nothing more, just a quick follow-up to the usual email readings.

Someone rang claiming to be from Avro energy asking for a meter reading. I told them Avro isn’t our provider. They muttered something about their records being out of date. They already had my name and postcode, which seemed pretty dodgy to me.

Got a call for a meter reading from my supplier (Avro), they mentioned it was for a secondary check but only asked for the electric meter reading. When I asked which meter they meant, they just read out the first three letters of my meter number. I didn’t give them any more info and then they just ended the call. Strange thing is, they already knew my last name.

This number belongs to Lowri Beck, they handle meter readings for gas and electric on behalf of energy companies. They ring you up asking for your meter readings and then send them to the suppliers whilst charging a fee. Basically you do the legwork and they get paid for it. Sounds like a sweet deal if you ask me.

Got a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC, telling me to press 1 to sort out some supposed unpaid debt, or else they’d send a warrant and have me arrested on the spot!!! Honestly, can’t wait to see these jokers face to face!!!! Absolute muppets!

I received a call from someone claiming to represent Green Network Energy, my energy provider. They were after a meter reading. I informed them that I was at the office and preferred to submit my reading online, which is my usual practice.

Someone was calling me to get meter readings for the energy company. Seems legit to me. I know some might find it annoying, but it’s not at all harmful or pushy. Probably better than sending someone round in person given how things are right now. The person on the phone was quite courteous too.

Got a bothersome call and I hung up straight away, they just hung up on me too. Saw what others said here so decided to block the number.

I answered since the Manchester code looked familiar, but the caller hung up once she said the line was unclear. After seeing what others have said about this number, I’m definitely blocking it.

Just yesterday evening about 5.39pm, this number popped up on my phone. The person said they were from Avro and wanted a meter reading. I didn’t share anything since I knew Avro’s not based in Manchester and their office hours end at half past five. So, this morning I called Avro myself, and they told me it’s actually a meter reading company called Lowri Beck that they use. I reckon the caller really ought to have made it clearer who they were representing!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Lowri Beck - they wanted me to ring a different number to give a meter reading but didn’t say which one exactly. I regularly send my energy readings straight to my provider and have nothing to do with Lowri Beck, who are a right pain. Pretty sure they try ringing from other numbers apart from this one too.

Got a voicemail from 0345612214 asking me to submit my meter readings. Bit strange since I’ve been putting them in online ages ago. With all the different tales people have shared here, I can’t help thinking something fishy’s going on.

I picked up and some bloke said my policy had expired. I asked what policy he meant but he didn’t reply. Then I asked again and after that, it went dead quiet. Quite a strange call.

This bloke said his name was Steven and I told him I've gotten like 10 calls from him this past hour and asked him to cut it out. Then he threatened me saying if I didn’t listen, he’d scam me or something. I just laughed it off, told him to get lost and put the phone down. He’s obviously just trying to scare me but I’m not falling for it at all.
