This number has been ringing me nonstop for the past week! The first time I missed it, they left a voicemail. When I played it back, it was some recorded message saying “Capital Recoveries” had been trying to reach me and asked me to call back. Thing is, my council tax, water, and gas bills are all paid up by direct debit, so there’s no way I owe anything. Even when I pick up the phone, the same automated message plays out word for word, then cuts off before you can respond. Looks like the scam only works if you ring them back, which I’m definitely not doing - I’ve gotten scammed and tricked way too many times just for being honest and trying to do the right thing. It’s frustrating because these people clearly have the skills to do something useful online, but instead they choose to waste their time scamming decent folk. Really makes you wonder what they’re thinking.
