Like other folks here, I got a call saying I'd bagged £100,000 on the postcode lottery, which I'd never even entered. They went on to mention my previous address, trying to make it sound legit. I got a phone call from a woman who sounded Indian, with loads of noise in the background. I couldn’t really catch what she was saying clearly, but I think she said something like, “we always like to call our winners.” Felt off to me, probably some kind of scam.

Initially, they claimed I'd hit the jackpot with a £10,000 win from the Postcode Lottery - as if! Then, they proceeded to ask me a handful of rather harmless queries regarding my height, weight, and age, before delving into whether I held any life insurance, with whom, how much I forked out monthly, and for what sum (I opted for rather vague responses). Following that, they informed me I would be entered into a draw backed by Legal & General. I can’t shake the feeling that had I given them different responses, the whole scenario might have morphed into a sales pitch for Legal & General’s life insurance (though it’s quite possible that Legal & General themselves were completely in the dark about the whole affair!). Got a call from someone claiming to be with the Postcode Lottery, which I’ve never entered, saying I’d bagged £1000. Heard loads of chatter from a busy call centre in the background. They already had my name and address, which got me curious, so I decided to keep them on the line for a bit. They asked some questions, first being “Who’s your life insurance with?” I said I don’t have one. They just said “Alright, thanks” and then ended the call.
