My elderly mum kept getting these automated calls claiming six hundred quid had been withdrawn from her bank and sent abroad. The message said to press one if she wanted them to look into it further. Luckily, she recalled the warnings I’d given her about scams and just ended the call. We then took a look at her bank statements and even rang her bank, who assured us nothing suspicious had happened. Apparently, lots of their customers report similar calls. Sounds like a dodgy attempt to snag her banking info. Thankfully, no harm done but it did worry her quite a bit.

I got a call from this number, said it was from Monmouth, but when I answered, there was total silence. I ended up hanging up straight away. Feels like it could be one of those dodgy scam calls again.
