Somebody rang claiming to be from TalkTalk's tech support. I ignored it and just blocked the number straight away.

Received a call that claimed to be from BT, alleging that my internet had been compromised. They proceeded to grill me about my security settings and even mentioned that my internet was on the brink of expiring the very next day (which was just a day after the call). I reached out to BT directly, and they firmly stated that the call wasn't from them, assuring me that my broadband contract was perfectly fine and secure. What unnerved me a bit was that my internet actually dropped out, but after I promptly updated all my passwords for extra protection, everything came back online! As soon as I began probing them for information about IT access, the caller abruptly ended the conversation. Quite a distressing experience!

Got a couple calls today from this number. After seeing what others said, I’ve gone ahead and blocked it.

Within just a couple of hours, this number rang me around three or four times. I never picked up but it always stopped ringing before my voicemail kicked in. I tend to ignore calls from numbers I don’t know, as well as hidden or overseas ones. If it truly mattered, they’d have left a message, right?

I got a call from an American woman’s voice, sounded pretty robotic, claiming she was with TalkTalk and threatening to cut off my internet service the next day. I just hung up straight away. When I checked the number by calling 1471, it showed up as 01587 962843.

I got a rather dodgy recorded call from this number earlier today, claiming to be from the BT Technical team, insisting that my internet service was about to be cut off. Got a call from some auto dialler telling me my internet would be disconnected in a day if I didn’t follow their instructions. If the real internet company calls, they’d actually tell you their name instead of just saying “your internet provider,” which felt a bit dodgy to me.

Today I got three calls from different numbers all claiming to be TalkTalk, with one of those automated messages threatening to cut off my internet soon. I've seen plenty of these scare tactics before. Honestly, don’t fall for the threats or the stuff about your IP or computer being hacked - it’s just confusing jargon to freak you out. No real internet company would ring up like that offering help out of the blue!
