Just put this number on my Call Guardian block list. I've got the BT800 which comes with Call Guardian, it checks calls automatically. My family and mates are on a safe list so their calls come straight through. Scam calls on the block list never get through. Anyone else has to say their name, which it records. Then you can pick up, decline, or send to voicemail. Honestly, best phone I’ve owned, and nope, I’m not working for BT or anything!

10/08/18 20:15 Blackpool here. Heard office sounds in the background but no one answered after saying 'hello' a couple times, then the call just dropped. The IQR research mentioned in the comments has the same dialling code 01582. Seems like they're just testing if the number is active or not.

Got a call from 01582 310352 around 9 this evening here in GT Yarmouth. The person said they were from a firm called IQR doing some market research on BREXIT. I said 'yes' when she asked if she could take a couple of minutes to ask my views, but then the line just went dead. Feeling a bit uneasy now after reading about a scam in the US where saying 'yes' can be recorded and misused for fraud.

Ringing totally random numbers. Got a call from a Swindon number. Feels like they’re just running through numbers one after another, probably going through exchanges bit by bit. Real surveys that matter are one thing, but they’re usually allowed to get past the TPS and sales blocks. Trouble is, dodgy firms then sell your info pretending you agreed to it being used for marketing! So honestly, avoid all these surveys, especially if there’s no way to ring back or check who it is.

The person on the other end was a really polite young woman with a really clear English accent. She said sorry but explained she was working from a call centre so it wasn’t allowed. Called my other half on his unlisted home phone asking if he lived in Corby and mentioned wanting to do some kind of survey. He didn’t quite catch what I meant, so we ended the call nicely. Reading the comments here, it sounds like one of those dodgy Brexit or immigration calls.
