Just answered a call from someone with an American accent warning me that my internet would be disconnected soon. I hung up straight away since a mate mentioned they'd had the same call lately. This is the second time this week it’s happened.

They kept ringing me loads of times each day, always with the same recorded message but from different phone numbers. One of the numbers they used was 01565874165. Such a nuisance!

This number kept ringing me at 7.21 this morning but I ignored it. They've been calling several times lately. Does anyone know how to block them?

Received a call at 2:08pm from a woman who said I’d allegedly tried to get into some government website and I had to ring back 0121 3680326 within a day or they’d block my internet. She spoke proper, but it felt like she was just reading from a script. I did a 1471 return call check and it showed the same number, 0121 3680326. Didn’t dare call it back though, worried it might somehow mess with my computer.

This was the third time they rang me, I missed the other two. It was always the same call - a lady with an American or maybe Asian accent claiming she worked for some company and that my internet had been hacked. I told her I don't even have broadband and she just hung up. The worst part was the automated message beforehand saying my broadband would be disconnected in 24 hours. That must scare a lot of older folks.

Called a landline and no one picked up, they just cut off. Decided to check on my mobile and saw it was some dodgy caller. So, I called back and left it ringing for 5 minutes. Tried again for 4 minutes, then 2, then 1. Surprise, surprise - no answer. Thought I’d give them a taste of their own medicine. Number’s blocked now.

Today I got a call from 01555 820586 saying my IP address was involved in hacking a government website and that my internet would be cut off right away. They then put me on hold to speak to an agent, but I ended the call straight away knowing it was a scam. These sorts of scams usually pop up around Christmas, and folks really should be warned, especially older people, as they can easily be pushed into believing it. Anyone who's had a call like this should definitely let their family and mates know, maybe even post about it online to help others avoid falling for it.

Got a couple of calls from this number today, one at 9.13 and another around 9.34. Didn’t pick up as I didn’t know who it was. Lately, I’ve been getting loads of weird calls like this, probably scams, so I've just blocked the number.

This morning I got a few calls, like three of them, from someone claiming my internet was involved in hacking a government website, saying they found a computer with an IP address linked to me. They never gave their names, and when I asked to speak to a tech expert, they just cut the line. Totally a scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call from this number at 7:49 earlier today. Over the past few years, I've been bombarded with scam calls, so I usually let it ring unless I recognise the number. After reading the reviews here, I've decided to block it straight away.

My grandparents keep getting nonstop calls from these people, and yesterday my Grandma got so terrified she called me, convinced they were going to cut off her phone in just a few hours. She's got trouble hearing and my Grandad has Alzheimer's, so it’s awful how they’re targeting them like that. Using fear to trick such vulnerable folks is just shocking.

Got four calls in just a couple of hours today, but none of them left a voicemail. Pretty clear it wasn’t anything urgent or important.

Got a call from this number today saying our internet would get disconnected for a whole day if we didn’t stay on the line. Even though we suspected it was dodgy, my husband kept the call going and an Indian woman answered. When he told her we wouldn’t hand over any details ‘cos it was clearly a scam and asked why she was doing it, she admitted she was a hacker and said she enjoyed it. Then she started swearing and being really rude. I’d steer well clear of this number - we’ve blocked it now.

I work in an office with a few phone lines and its weird how i overheard three different people going through something like the same scam caller script. Whenever someone brings up our IT team, the call just cuts off straight away. You can tell they’re scammers from how fast they hang up once you mention tech support.

Got called 5 times in just one hour. Four times no answer when I picked up, then on the fifth it was some automated voice saying they’d broken into a government site and to hold for an engineer. I waited a bit, then told them to get lost and hung up. Blocked the number after that, but then I started getting calls from some dodgy international or out-of-area number. Proper annoying!

Totally a scam, just hang up straight away.

Got a recorded call saying I hacked a government site and that my internet and phone would be cut off in an hour. Totally a scam, but I bet some folks who aren’t tech savvy might get really stressed out by it.

Got two calls from this number today. I just ended the call straight away. The caller said her name was Kate and told me some government department had a hack trace back to my IP, and that I was about to be disconnected. Poor folks who might actually believe this stuff must be the ones getting scammed. These crooks are proper nasty, making cash off people like that.

Just a heads up, don't pick up or respond - it's a scam.

Cheers to everyone who shared their thoughts. I didn’t pick up, just came here to see what's going on. Why is it that when we flag these calls as scams, BT never seems to stop them? Then again, maybe it's because they’re making money from it!

These lot have rung me a few times, each time saying I've hacked into some government site and they're gonna switch my internet off if I don't speak to their "engineer". It's all a load of rubbish, just a nasty scam trying to trick folks. Don't fall for it and just ignore their calls.

Got a call from this number at around 7.21 in the morning. My BT call guard caught it and blocked it, but it still managed to ring once on my old phone that’s always plugged in for security. It’s not the first time they’ve called either, they’ve tried multiple times before.

Got a call just after 8 in the mornin from a lady who said her name was Kate, telling me my internet would be disconnected within a day. She then said she’d connect me to an engineer. The bloke on the other end kept going on for ages, so I just hung up. He called back right away asking why I’d done that, and I told him it sounded like a scam, but he kept insisting it wasn’t.
