I received a call at a quarter past one last Friday, 30th January, from a chap on a local 01543 (719030) number. He started rambling on about the National Hearing Centre and inquired whether I'd ever been around any noisy machinery. Naturally, I was curious how he stumbled upon my name and my unlisted home phone number. He claimed that the firm purchases various databases. I expressed my lack of interest, to which he assured me he'd remove my number from their records. However, when I dialled the local number back, I found myself routed to another line with a pre-recorded message from something called 'Legal Claims'. It all seems rather dodgy to me.
