I finally picked up today, and it was a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. She asked me to verify my address and postcode, but when I questioned her about the reason, she said they needed to send me a letter. I told her I wasn’t interested and ended the call. on 28/12/18 around 10:20am, my phone rang and when I answered, a woman spoke briefly before a sudden click. next thing I heard was a recorded message saying “all our operators are busy right now, please stay on line to be connected.” I got worried it might be some expensive or overseas call, so I quickly put the phone down. it’s baffling why BT hasn’t done anything to fix this! has anyone ever been caught or punished for these dodgy calls? keep in mind, not all crooks look sneaky!

I did a 1471 to check the number and rang it back, only to get some Asian accent saying the number’s not in service. They keep ringing me using almost the same number, just swapping the last digit to dodge my block. First, they called me about 8 times from a number ending in 9, then switched to one ending in 7 for another 4 calls. Now it’s a number finishing in 4 and they’ve already buzzed me 4 times today, waking me up way too early. They usually claim to be from BT, TPS, or Microsoft, trying to get your bank or card info. Best thing to do is just hang up and block them straight away.

They said they were from the Telephone Preference Service and promised to block all spam calls forever if you just gave them your bank card details. It’s a pretty nasty con, and I reckon elderly folks or anyone not too sharp might fall for it. Today I got called twice by this number. The person on the line had a heavy Indian accent and when I accused him of being a scammer, he told me I wasn’t allowed to say that. I told him I could say whatever I wanted and then he just ended the call. I've reported the matter to the police through the TPS site.

Got a call pretty early, around 7.20am today. Since my parents are quite old, I got a bit anxious thinking something might be wrong. Before I could answer, their answerphone kicked in and then the call ended. I dialled 1471 straight after and found out the number they called from.
