it's been non stop today, this is about the 5th or 6th call, loads of ppi offers, some about loft insulation, a recorded message from a government service, a couple of dead air calls, one which finished with someone saying goodbye, and two calls from asian sounding voices. The last rang at 6.14pm. I keep my phone mainly so friends and family can get in touch, but mostly for hospital appointments as i’m disabled and have cancer treatments. It takes me a while to get to the phone and sometimes it really could be urgent hospital stuff. Since it’s a BT line you'd think they’d take more action against these nuisance calls. I’m really annoyed with BT and definitely won’t be renewing my contract when it expires. The number shows up on my bill as being from Liverpool. Just got another call, and this time someone answered. Phones these days can block withheld caller IDs, like mine does, which seems to frustrate those "Indian" callers who often use fake UK-style names. They usually take ages to pick up after you answer because I think they're actually calling from India and routing through UK networks, which causes the delay. I’ve had loads of these calls and once you have a bit of a chat with them, they just won't stop ringing back. It’s pretty clear they’re trying to scare you into paying by threatening to lock your computer. I had this happen myself, and unless you let them get into your PC, it’s almost impossible for them to actually do it. They use a popular money transfer service to demand the cash. I'm on the TPS list but haven’t updated them with this particular one yet. Whenever I switch on my answerphone, no message is left. It’s really annoying. BT just keep pushing me to buy some call-blocking plan, which isn’t what I’m after at all. In the past hour and a half I’ve already had four calls from this number. What else can I do?

Got a ring from this number just now, but when I answered there was nothing but silence, so I ended the call straightaway. Before, I'd get calls from mystery numbers where nothing happened for a bit, then a woman's voice would say 'Goodbye'. When I tried 1471 after those, it gave me a message like 'You received a call from...' before cutting off. This time, the number did show up, but I'm not sure if it’s connected to those earlier strange calls or not...?

Got a call from a number showing as Liverpool but flagged as international. They started with my name, then proceeded to ask if I work or study, loads of marketing type questions. Proper annoying!

Got these calls too and when I told them I wasn’t interested, they kept ringing me back over and over. But once I put my number on the TPS, they just said sorry for disturbing me and haven’t called since! Fingers crossed it helps others as well.

I’m dealing with a brain tumour, and getting calls as many as 12 times a day, especially when my husband is busy with his shifts, is really pushing me over the edge. The stress from this is just too much to handle right now.

Got a call around 11:15 on 14th Nov 2014 from a woman who used my last name and asked if I was the person she was after. I told her she had the wrong number. Then she started quoting an address that wasn’t mine. She said her name was Hayley and she was doing a quick survey, said it’d only take a couple of minutes. She had an Asian accent. I said I wasn’t interested and asked her not to ring me again. Then she just hung up.

My phone’s pretty much always on answerphone now, and when I saw this number pop up, I let it ring through. Just like before, the caller hung up as soon as the answerphone picked up. Classic scam, nothing new really. Honestly, what are our stingy government lot even doing to stop these nuisance calls? It’s getting ridiculous.
