Got a robo call saying I needed to get in touch with Linda White at HMRC or they'd take some sort of action against me. When I rang back the number, some bloke called William Reed picked up and said he'd handle it. He asked me for my name, I stayed silent, and then he just hung up on me. Bit odd that HMRC in Liverpool would be chasing me up when I don’t even live near there! 🤨

It's just ridiculous. They ring from an 0151 code, which you'd think is HMRC since they're around that region, but nah, it's just a scam. The person calling goes by Linda, and she seems to flood your phone with calls non-stop. What's worse is they actually have my number too. I've had enough and have blocked them now.

Just got a weird automated message from someone called Linda White about tax fraud and saying to ring HMRC. The message was chopped up and didn’t start properly. Pretty sure this is a scam - HMRC wouldn’t send a call with part of the message missing like that. Best just to block and report it to HMRC.

I ended up ringing this number by mistake. The person on the other end had a pretty believable story, but the minute I asked for a number to ring back and check their identity, they just cut me off. They claimed I had some long-overdue tax debt and threatened that I'd be hauled into court or even arrested straight away. Once they reckon you've had enough, they start mentioning all sorts of 'options' - obviously trying to get you to cough up loads of cash.
