Yesterday, mum who's 91 years old got a call from a London number and it really scared her. When I got round this morning, I saw that same number had tried ringing again. I picked up and told them I was "mum’s name," but they claimed I wasn’t and just hung up saying it was a wrong number. I called back from my mobile and had a bit of a row, asking how they could possibly know mum wasn’t 91, but they just kept insisting I was mistaken.

Don't bother with the timewasters and oxygen thieves; simply block them and carry on with your life. If a particular number keeps pestering you despite your requests to be removed from their list, do a bit of sleuthing to track down their address. Once you’ve got it, send them a cheeky invoice for the inconvenience and stress they’ve caused you. Bet you'll never hear from them again!

I saw a call from 0151 528 4173, based in Liverpool, but I didn’t pick up since it was an unknown number. Reading what others have said, it looks like a scam related to banking. I got a call from a woman with a really thick accent who said her name was Christine. She claimed that my bank had been overcharging me on interest for years and that I was actually owed money, but she needed to confirm I was the right person first. Then she asked for my date of birth, address, and even my bank sort code! I ended the call straight away, but I stuck around a bit just to see what info she wanted. Definitely sounded like a scam from the beginning. What freaked me out the most was that she already knew my home address.

I received a rather odd phone call from this number inquiring about my name and whether I'd ever taken out a mortgage. They even wanted to know which bank I'd been with, claiming I was entitled to a cheque after having unknowingly paid some fees on a mortgage of all things! In a moment of whimsy, I gave them a fictitious name and mentioned I was born in 2021-how's that for a giggle?

These people phoned up an elderly lady who lives in social housing, trying to trick her into paying money for drainage insurance she didn’t really understand. She was confused about who they were and got caught up in it.

Had a call from a woman claiming to be from 'the refund department'. She told me a hefty cheque was on its way, then started throwing all kinds of unrelated questions about my life insurance at me. Asked which account I’d be putting "my" cheque into! I told her I’d think about it later and that it had nothing to do with me. Once she realised I wasn’t some easy target, she quickly hung up. I’d say this number’s risky mostly for the naive (which is most people!) but honestly, it’s just a bit of a laugh for those of us who catch on quickly!
