7 yearsGot a voicemail saying thanks for a £599 Visa payment. Didn’t even bother, just hung up straight away.7 yearsMy older family member got a call from this number about some visa account, which sounded dodgy. Luckily, she knew to just cut the call off. I tried calling back, but they never picked up.7 yearsI got a call from an automated lady voice that I hadn’t encountered before. She was saying something like, “Hello, thanks for paying £500 on your Visa Debit card,” but the line was terrible with lots of static so I couldn’t catch it all. I’m sure my credit card provider never calls me like that - they usually email me after payments, and the messages definitely aren’t from ‘Visa’ directly. Definitely another scam attempt.Visa Debit7 yearsI got a few calls from them, all thanking me for a payment supposedly made. Then they said something like "if you didn't do this, call this number." I just hung up straight away and didn’t bother doing anything else.7 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be from Visa’s fraud department, saying his name was JOHN WATT - quite a common name here. His accent didn’t sound local, maybe Nigerian, and his English was pretty poor. From what I could gather, he told me there was a £599 payment about to be made from my Visa card to an American account. He then asked for my bank details claiming he needed to stop the transaction. I politely refused and said I’d check with the actual Visa fraud team first. He tried pushing again for my info, but I stood firm and said I’d do my own verification. He offered another number to call back, 0300 1232040, to "prove" he was legit - silly guy. I ended up ringing the genuine Visa fraud department who confirmed it was definitely a scam. Just a heads up to everyone, watch out for this one. Cheers!VisaJOHN WATTUKUSASubmit Your Own Report (0151 428 6544)
