I've just had one of those dubious phone calls that are all too familiar these days-it was an automated voice, sounding distinctly feminine, saying something along the lines of, "Hello, thank you for your payment of five hundred pounds to your Visa Debit account." The line was dreadful, crackling with interference, making it hard to catch everything. I’m well aware that my credit card provider doesn’t operate like that; they tend to send me proper emails confirming transactions, and they never claim to be from 'Visa' directly. Just another classic scam, I suppose.

I received multiple calls expressing gratitude for my payment, but they added a peculiar message: "If it wasn't you, please contact this number." I decided to hang up before proceeding any further with the call.

I received a rather dubious phone call from a chap claiming to be from the Visa fraud department, introducing himself as JOHN WATT-an incredibly commonplace name here in the UK. His accent seemed to hint at Nigerian origins, and his command of English left much to be desired. From what little I could decipher, he was asserting that my Visa card was on the verge of processing a payment of £599 to an entity in the USA. He then had the audacity to request some of my banking information to halt this so-called transaction. I firmly told him I needed to get in touch with the official Visa fraud department to verify his identity. He persisted in trying to coax me into handing over my details, but I stood my ground and insisted on conducting my own verification. He even had the cheek to suggest that I could ring him back at 0300 1232040, and he would confirm his credentials (what a fool!). Naturally, I contacted the genuine Visa fraud team, who promptly informed me that it was all a ruse designed to extract funds from my bank. So, a word of caution to everyone-stay alert for this sort of scam! Cheers.
