I got a call from someone claiming to be with the Insurance Review Centre, saying their main office was in Liverpool with a Manchester branch. When I checked the FCA site, it warned: "This company might be offering financial services in the UK without proper authorisation. Here’s why you should be cautious and how to stay safe." I questioned them about this, and the caller denied it, then put me through to her ‘supervisor’. Both speakers had accents that sounded South Asian, maybe Indian or Pakistani. There was loads of background noise too, with the same kind of accents chatting away.
