Someone rang me saying they were from BT and that my internet security was compromised. I didn’t buy it, told them I’d ring BT myself, and they just ended the call straight away. I then phoned BT, who said it was a scam and everything with my internet was fine. Don’t fall for these dodgy calls - if you’re uncertain, just hang up and contact the company directly. Better to be safe than sorry, folks.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Virgin Media, informing me that there had been some suspicious activity linked to my account. Skeptical, I requested proof to validate the legitimacy of the call. The caller confidently replied that he could provide my Virgin Media contract number, which supposedly only I and the company were privy to. My husband then jumped in and told him outright that he was a scammer. Interestingly, this number had previously contacted us as well, showing up as 0049243037.

Got a call from a quick-talking guy with a South Asian accent saying he was from BT Openreach. I cut him off and asked straight away for his full name and which department he was from. He said his first name was David, so I asked for his surname, and he hesitated before blurting out Smith (real believable!). That’s when I told him to pack up his dodgy scam and get lost, sharpish!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT saying my IP was exposed and they could sort it out. Got a call from someone with a funny accent, sounded like they were abroad. They claimed there were unauthorised users on my internet, which seemed total nonsense. Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT, saying my internet was running really slow. He told me to open the search box and type in RUN so he could check what was wrong. Kept asking what I used the internet for - stuff like online banking, betting, shopping or streaming films. When I said I wasn't happy with it because of all the scams going about, he got really tetchy. Then he gave me a BT number to ring back: 01753 596 931 - but it didn’t show up when I tried calling. We've always grappled with internet issues, yet this was the first time someone had reached out to us via phone. Instinctively, I sensed something was amiss. When I inquired about his location, he stated he was in London, but I had already taken the liberty of searching the number during our conversation and discovered it was actually registered in Louth. He pressed me to conduct a speed test, and when I questioned his affiliation with BT, he mentioned he had dispatched an email containing a four-digit code. Upon checking my emails, I found an exceptionally convincing correspondence that seemed like it was genuinely from BT! Do exercise extreme caution with this number; it could easily ensnare the unwary!

Got a bizarre message from 01507665750, and when I tried ringing them back, it was clear they were up to some scammy business. Definitely best to not pick up those calls!

Got a call from some chap claiming my internet had been hacked. I told him, "Are you going to ask for my bank details next so you can fix it after nicking all my dosh?" He lost his temper, swore at me with some foul language, and then just hung up.

This number called me and a woman claimed she was from BT about our internet service. She then told us to log onto our computer, which raised alarm bells. We told her no straight away, thinking it was a con. Right after that, she just hung up. Watch out, this seems dodgy!

Got a call from someone who said he worked for BT, but he had a really thick Indian accent, sounded more Pakistani to me. I told him he must have dialled a public phone box by mistake.

Had a call come through on my home phone today. I’d say it’s best to just let calls from unknown numbers ring out. If you do miss a call, have a look at your voicemail. Usually, spam callers or telemarketers won’t leave anything. Then try looking up the number here to see who it might be. If you do pick up and they start pushing something, just tell them you’re relocating overseas and that your current phone line will be shut down in a couple of days. That way, they might stop bothering you with calls to that number.

Got a call from this number earlier, didn't recognise it so I just let it ring through to voicemail. Of course, the caller ended the call straight away and didn’t bother leaving a message. Definitely a scam, watch out!

On Thursday, 4 August 2022, just after 11 in the morning, I got a call from a lady with a strong Indian or Pakistani accent. She told me there was a problem with my internet and said she'd arrange for someone to visit and sort it out. I didn’t give her any details or agree to anything, so I’m not sure what she was hoping to do.

So a bloke named Oliver rang me up, sounding really smooth, said he was from BT. He told me BT's security team had picked up that my internet might have been hacked or something. Total nonsense though, definitely a dodgy call.

Got a really irritating call from someone claiming to be "Marshall" about my BT service being cut off - problem is, I've never even had BT! Normally I don’t pick up these random cold calls. On top of that, today I've had a bunch of local numbers ringing me too, all cold calls I ignored, and I reckon they’re connected to this 1507 number. I gave Marshall a piece of my mind before blocking the number, but I bet these annoying calls won’t stop any time soon.

I picked up but there was no one speaking on the other side, I waited around 15 seconds and then they just ended the call.

I answered the phone but the person hung up before I could say anything. Yesterday I got another cold call from a different number, which was flagged as a scam 01630 350085. It's a bit unsettling to think my number might be on some sketchy lists now. I’ll definitely be more cautious with incoming calls from unknown numbers from now on.

Got a call from someone saying they'd cut off my business internet if I didn't pay up. Definitely felt like a scam to me. I didn't give them any info and just hung up straight away. Watch out for these dodgy calls pretending to be from your provider!

My wife picked up the call from 01507665750 and instantly realised it was a scam. She couldn’t even hear properly and just ended up hanging up. Had a good laugh about it afterwards. Cheers, Mr DJM.
