I get these annoying calls at least five times daily. I answered once, and it was exactly like what that Indian lady from BT mentioned. If your phone shows the number before you decide to answer, just ignore it - it's almost definitely a scam. Every time you do pick up, there's a good chance you're getting charged for the call. I got a few calls from different folks with thick Indian accents claiming my internet was under attack. They wanted me to switch on my laptop, but I didn’t fall for it. So, my landline buzzed at 2:06pm on 1st July 2019, and when I picked up, there was silence on the other end. I could hear some faint noises in the background though, so I doubt it was one of those robo-calls. I tried ringing the number back but got a message saying, "the number you dialled isn't recognised, please double-check and try again." I checked unknownphone dot com and noticed quite a few similar reports from just the past few hours, so looks like this number's been quite busy recently.

Just so you know, BT always rings from an 0800 number. If you get a call from any other number claiming to be BT, it's definitely not them.

At 2:06 pm on 1st July 2019, my home phone rang. When I picked up, silence - just some faint noises in the background, so it didn’t seem like a robot calling. I rang the number back and got a message saying “The number you have dialled is unrecognised, please check and try again.” There are four other reports about this same number here, all from the last few hours. Seems pretty dodgy to me - looks like a scam if you ask me.
