I’ve tried calling that number multiple times, but it’s perpetually engaged. Eventually, I managed to chat with a telecoms expert who ran some diagnostics on it. He informed me that it’s linked to an automated sales calling system. Quite frustrating, really!

Got a call from this number the past couple of days, and it’s definitely a scam. The first time, they left one of those automatic messages that I just ended the call on straight away. Then about 30 minutes later, they rang again claiming to be from BT saying there was an issue with my internet. Thing is, I don’t even have BT internet, so I told them off pretty firmly and ended it. People who aren’t tech-savvy or older might fall for this, so if you’re unsure, just hang up and ring your provider directly. Same advice goes for anyone asking for your bank info.

I had no idea who was calling so I just left it ringing.

Got a call from a woman claiming she was with BT, saying our internet's IP address had been used in loads of places abroad and they were gonna cut it off. I told her I’m not with BT, but she insisted that BT supplies internet for sky, virgin, talk talk and all the others. When I said I wasn’t sure about the account details she got a bit narky and I just ended the call. Also, last week I got some pre-recorded messages hinting at the same issue.

Got a call from someone with a really hard to follow accent, said they were from BT and there was some kind of security issue with my internet. Sounded dodgy to me, so I hung up after just a few minutes. Pretty sure it was a scam trying to get at my details.

got a call from someone who said there was an issue with my router, spoke really oddly and said they were from bt. seemed like a total scam to me, maybe trying to hack into my computer or something.

I got a call from someone pretending to be BT, saying I could get an upgrade on my package. They told me to download some software so I could make the order online and get a special deal. After I downloaded it, the call dropped. I decided to call BT directly and it was then I found out it was a scam. They said the app I'd installed, TeamViewer or something, gave the scammers access to my Mac. Luckily, BT helped me delete the software right away. I also reported the number to their security team. Definitely not a legit BT call.
