I got a call from a man speaking with an Asian accent who somehow already had my name and said he was ringing from the Telephone Preference Service. He asked if I was still getting sales calls, to which I replied yes, especially from the call I was on, then I just ended the call. The fact that he had so much info about me makes me think it probably came from the Equifax data leak back in May 2017.

Got called about 7 times today, but everytime I answered, there was just silence on the line. Pretty strange.

Happened to me too. They rang me like 5 times today. When I finally answered, they asked to verify my bank details. Oddly, they already quoted our sort code, which freaked me out a bit. I didn’t give them any more info and just ended the call. Kinda worrying how they had the sort code to begin with.

Over the past half hour, I've had three calls on my landline from someone saying they're with TPS. After looking up the number and seeing what others said, I got another call, this time an Indian bloke answered. I told him to shove off and to stop ringing me. Fingers crossed they don’t bother me anymore.

Loads of people say they're from the telephone preference service, and like others have mentioned before, these calls come with your full name and even your bank sort code. Like others have said, this bloke claimed to be from the TPS. He had my full name and address and reckoned he knew I sorted my phone bill by direct debit (not exactly a secret). Then he asked for my card info to keep me safe from annoying calls. Proper pushy, he was. When I asked if he could send something in the post instead, he said he’d do it in two working days. As soon as I said no to giving my bank details, he just hung up on me!

I’ve had a strange experience with some company that deals with unwanted phone calls. Over the past hour I got four calls from them and picked up each time. The first caller asked if I was still getting annoying calls, I told them I’m on the TPS list, and then the call just ended. The second one said they wanted to help me block these calls, same with the third, but when I told the guy the only nuisance today was him, he hung up. The last call was just someone asking for me by name, then nothing, just silence until it cut off. Very odd!

I received a phone call from someone who claimed to represent Telephone Preference, but their accent made it rather challenging to follow what they were saying. I’ve had this number ring about a half dozen times from someone claiming to be from the telephone preference thing. First off, they asked to confirm my name and address, then started asking dodgily about my debit card expiry date. I told them straight away that TPS is free and they shouldn't be asking for my card details! They keep calling though, and each time I just tell them I’m not the person who owns the phone, I just work as a cleaner here.
