I've been receiving calls from a bloke claiming he represents BT, asking if I fancy switching my account. It's occurred on several occasions now and it's really starting to get under my skin. Why hasn’t anyone addressed this nonsense yet?

Someone phoned asking for Sally, I told him she wasn’t here. Then he started asking if we usually get loads of calls like that and said he might be able to block them for us. Oddly, he knew our postcode and asked me to confirm it, which I did.

Got a call from someone saying they were looking for a Mrs Sweeny. Told them no one here by that name and then they started asking if we get loads of calls for different people. When I said yes, they offered to block it for me but said they needed to run a line check first. Didn’t feel right as they never said their name or which company they were from, so I just ended the call.

I keep receiving endless calls, but as soon as I pick up, they just hang up.

Somebody rang me saying they were from BT and offered to cut down my bills. Then they told me to wait a moment while they checked with their manager. After a short time, a ‘manager’ came on the phone, but he sounded exactly the same as the first bloke. I just hung up straight away.

I reached out to inquire about our BT account and who had made the payment. Upon asking for the name of the person I was speaking to, he became rather flustered and repeatedly interrupted me, insisting that he was on the verge of revealing that information. He kept insisting, “Wendy, I was just about to get to that," which only added to my frustration. After a while, I decided it was best to end the conversation and hung up the phone.
