Got a call from 01488 310484 back in April 2026, only just got round to checking the voicemail. It was a woman asking "Are you there?" and then the line just went dead.

Got a call from someone named James again, but this time it was from another number. He claimed to be my local energy consultant, but I know for sure there's no one like that. Definitely a scam - I've already reported it to the cops.

01488310484 called me. English lady immediately asked if I could hear her. I said yes. Then she repeated the question. I am wondering if this is a way to get a recording of "Yes" for security questions on bank calls and that sort of thing. She didn't say anything else. The second time she asked if I could hear her was identical to the first. Not just similar but identical. (I do sound things for a living) and I suspect it was a recording being repeated to hide the true caller.

Judging by the comments, I reckon it’s some sort of voice cloning going on. If you do end up speaking, chuck in a cough to mess with their cloning. Honestly, it’s about time Action Fraud stepped in and nailed these scammers. They seem to use the same dialling code, only swapping the last digits around.

I picked up and said hello, then a guy with a proper English accent asked if I could hear him. I said back, "Well hello," but after that, nothing - just dead silence. Made me a bit uneasy, thinking maybe they’re scammers trying to record my voice or get me to say "yes" for some trick.

Got a robocall about some energy upgrades, very dodgy. Even though I’m registered with TPS, they still managed to get through. Total energy scam as usual.

Got a call with an automated voice asking if I could hear them alright. Then they started talking about government grants, so I just ended the call.

I got a ring from someone called Jo who was asking to talk to whoever owns the house about putting insulation in the loft. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a call like this. She didn’t seem to know anything about me or the place, just trying to push a sale by saying something we don’t have could be wrong or faulty.

Didn’t get a single message, just quiet on the line. After seeing what everyone else said, I’ve gone and blocked the number - though we all know that never really stops these calls.

At first, there was just silence, then a woman with a British accent answered. She told me she was ringing about an "energy assessment". I requested her company’s contact number and told her how to locate it. Right after, she just ended the call. I’m registered with the TPS, so I shouldn’t be receiving unsolicited calls from legit firms. I’ve labelled this number as suspicious because how can you trust a business that’s ready to break the rules like that!

I let the call go to voicemail since I didn’t know the number. There was nothing but silence on the other end, then they just ended the call. After reading the other comments, I’m really relieved I didn’t pick up.

They called and asked if I could hear them, but when I asked who it was, they went quiet. Feels like a scam, just hanging on until I say yes or something.

So, I got a call this morning around 11:30 on the 27th April 2026. I didn’t say anything at first, then some bloke with an English accent asked, “Can you hear me?” I replied yes, and after that, all I got was silence...

Got a call from a bloke asking 'Can you hear me alright?' sounded like one of those robot calls just waiting for me to say yes. I said, 'I suppose so.' Then the line just went dead quiet. I asked if it was a machine and still nothing, so I hung up. I keep getting calls like this from all sorts of numbers and it's really getting on my nerves.

Got a call about some sort of 'Energy Check' - seemed a bit dodgy, like one of those annoying scam calls! Proper nuisance, if you ask me.

Got a call out of the blue on my landline, which is listed in the phone book and signed up to the TPS. Didn’t leave any message on the voicemail when I didn’t answer, so I assume it’s some kind of scam. I’ve blocked the number now, but I’m not holding my breath that they won’t ring back another time.

I got a call from 01488310484 and an English woman asked if I could hear her right away. I said yes, but then she asked the exact same question again, word for word. I’m thinking this might be some sneaky way to grab a recording of me saying "yes," maybe for use in bank security stuff or something similar. She didn’t say anything else apart from that. What’s odd is the second time she asked if I could hear her, it was exactly the same as the first time. I work in sound, so I’m pretty sure it was a recorded message on repeat, probably to hide whoever is really calling.
