I received a call supposedly regarding my BT phone line. They wanted me to verify the expiry date of my credit/debit card, which I found quite suspicious. I decided it best to end the call, but they persisted and tried contacting me twice more. I chose not to pick up again.

She was asking me to confirm the expiry on a debit card, but when I asked which card she meant, she just wouldn’t say. After a few minutes of me trying to get info, she suddenly hung up. Felt really sketchy, don’t know who it was or what their intentions were. Definitely felt a bit unsafe.

This number has rung me quite a few times lately but never left a message. I finally picked up this morning and some person with an Indian accent claimed they were from the call blocking team at the TPS. I cut them off and told them if they were expecting me to pay for their service, I wasn’t interested and ended the call straight away. Just a heads up everyone, these scammers are out to drain your bank accounts. They target the vulnerable and elderly, so don’t get fooled. Not every caller is there to help you!

When I told them to get lost and put the phone down, they rang back from a couple more numbers - one was 01264 264002 and the other was an international number that showed up on my screen as 01615 25463, but it looked cut off. HERE’S HOW I HANDLE THESE CALLS!!! Got a call today but as soon as I picked up the line just went silent. So I decided to check out this site for some feedback! After that I rang call protect on 1572, looked up the number again, then pressed 1. Was then asked if I wanted to divert future calls from that number straight to my junk folder, so I hit 1 again and sorted it.

This bloke said he was with the TPS but just couldn’t get that the TPS is supposed to stop calls like his. I received a call from someone claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Management, supposedly offering an update on their services. Curiously, she already had my name and address, which made me a bit uneasy. As soon as she began probing about my bill payments and whether I used direct debit, I queried her about the relevance of that to the purpose of her call. Her inability to provide a clear response prompted me to inform her that I would handle my preferences directly on the Telephone Preference Service's website, after which I promptly ended the call.

Got calls twice today from 01487208565, saying they’re from Telephone Preference Marketing company. Two different people called, looking for the old resident who has passed away. I didn’t say that I wasn’t her. They said it’d be bad for me if I didn’t “join” their call blocking system. I told them I wasn’t buying any of it. When I asked where they were based, they first said “West Yorkshire” then suddenly changed it to some address in West London, 17 Market Street, SW8 8SS. I’m pretty sure that address isn’t even real.

Loads of calls have come through from these people who say they’re from Telephone Preference Management, saying they’re working for BT, TalkTalk and the like. The voices sound Indian or Asian, and you can tell from the background it’s a call centre full of Indian or Asian speakers, even though they say they’re ringing from London. They ask to check my details to “re-register” me for blocking calls, and want to know if I pay by direct debit. When I pushed back and said no, they just cut the call. I’ve reported both times to the ICO.

Absolutely, I'm in the same boat! This number rang me four times within the space of just a few hours. After a while, I managed to get them on the line. It was a familiar tale. The individual, who introduced himself as Marshall - a gentleman of Asian descent - claimed to be representing the BT preference service and offered to help me stop undesirable calls. I politely, yet decisively, declined his offer and he promptly hung up! I was rather surprised, to be honest; I expected a bit of pushback, but it was all remarkably straightforward. Just remember, stand firm! Avoid engaging in conversation; simply say "no thank you" and end the call.

Looks like this number tried to ring me a couple of times today and nearly ten times over the weekend. Luckily, my new caller ID blocks annoying calls like this one, so it never actually buzzes my phone and bugs me.

I get calls almost everyday but they always go to voicemail and never leave a message. Pretty annoying really.
