Like a few other folks mentioned here, we just let the voicemail pick up when this number called. Nobody said a thing or gave any message, so we just blocked it straight away. Whenever an unknown number rings, we usually let the answerphone handle it and if it’s just silence, we block it. Afterwards, we look the number up on this site just to be sure.

Some guy called claiming he was from the Telephone Preference Provider, which isn't actually the right name for that service. He said he wanted to "upgrade" the system and kept asking for my personal info. I told him I wasn't interested in any upgrades since the system's faulty, so basically he was calling illegally. Another one of those scams, it's a shame the authorities can't catch these lot.

Someone phoned me saying they were from the TPS. They first asked if I’d been getting loads of cold calls, then wanted to check my name, address and phone number. At the end, they tried to confirm details on my debit card, like the expiry date being changed to 2018 or something. Got a call off some con artist claiming to be from the telephone preference service. They’ve been ringin me up loads this week, so I figured I’d play along and see what would happen. The bloke asked if my visa debit card had been renewed since the last time, which he said was about three years ago. I told him yes, then I gave him made-up card details just to mess with him. He then offered to stop all nuisance calls for life, but it’d cost me £29. He kept asking if I had the card ready and all that. You can imagine the rest. Watch out for this one!

I've been getting bombarded with calls nearly every day from this number and also 01142218647, both claiming to be from TPS. It's disgraceful that British Telecom would allow their numbers to be sold to these scam gangs based in Asia. You'd think BT could be held responsible for helping these crooks in some way. On Friday, I got a call from a number calling about five times. The person said they were from BT and asked if I usually get nuisance calls. They wanted me to confirm my name, address, and postcode. Then they mentioned I paid by DD, which I corrected and said I use cheques. He gave me an account number and asked me to verify it, but I couldn’t remember it. He then asked me to fetch my cheque book to check, to which I just said I would before ending the call. After that, he called back four times in under five minutes, but I didn’t pick up. I used 1471 to check the number, and it was definitely him. Later on the same day, a woman rang from the same number, but no one spoke on the line.

Beware of calls from 01487 300018. A man with an Indian accent rang me, saying he was from the Telephone Preference Service and there was an update to their system. He said he needed to check my direct debit and card info. When I told him I didn’t have those details to hand and asked for his number so I could ring back, he said he’d give it after verification. I insisted I’d call him later, and he just ended the call. Definitely a scammer trying to get your info.

Since yesterday, I’ve had those numbers 01487208554 and 01487300018 blowing up my phone about eleven times. Whenever I pick up, they just hang up without saying anything or leaving a message. I’ve now blocked them both on my home phone.

this number has rang me multiple times today, and yesterday i got four calls from a different 01487 number. the first call was from an asian bloke, seemed like he was in a busy call centre or summat. he asked for me by name, but i said i was my daughter instead and told him mum would be back tomorrow! still, the same number rang me 4 more times after that. nowadays i just ignore any 01487 calls.
