Some guy called Dave, said he was a window fitter and asked for my hubby by his first name, even though he knew my surname. Told me he’d know who I am, but I've no idea who he is. I just ended the call. Seems like a scam - he’s rung before too.

Got a call from a lady with a strange accent, saying she was from BT Openreach and it was about my broadband. Didn't sound right, so I just hung up and blocked her. This is the second time in a couple of days I've had a similar call, but from another number. Proper annoying!

There was a pause, then some recorded voice came on but I couldn’t make out what it said.

Got a call earlier from someone asking for my husband by his name. I told them he wasn’t around and asked if I could assist instead. The caller then said his name was David, said he was a joiner, and that he'd call back another time. He ended the call pretty fast, saying “You take care”. Bit unsettling, to be honest! Since then, I got another call but didn’t pick up, and I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a call from some bloke calling himself 'Dave the joiner', said he knew me and had done roofing work before. Then mentioned he’d given me a quote ages ago for front and back doors, but I should’ve got them sorted by now, right? Then he claimed I had plastic fascias, which I definitely don’t. Total dodgy bloke trying to throw out common home repairs to catch your attention. He said he’s now flying solo and dropped some local area name where he’s based. Supposedly his company’s called Just Glaze. Sounded well pushy and had a proper awful accent. Absolute scam in my book.

I received a rather unpleasant phone call from a woman earlier. She claimed to be reaching out regarding my internet speed. This has happened a few times lately, about the fourth really - one caller was from Edinburgh, another from Leeds, and I didn’t catch where the third was from. The person on the phone sounded sorry for disturbing me, but honestly, the caller from Edinburgh sounded just as sorry too ???

01484243889 kept ringing me so I just put them on blocked. I reckon it’s a scam cos BT normally use other numbers and already have your info. I never pick up on numbers I don’t know now and blocked this one straight away. Told BT about the number and they said it wasn’t theirs and that they never call out of the blue - they’d send a letter or email before phoning you. They said they’d follow up with me.

Some bloke rang me with a thick Lancashire accent, asking if I was "Linda from Bolton." I asked who he was, and he said, "Don't you remember me? It's Dave the roofer - you phoned about your garage roof like eight years ago." I had no idea what he was on about, so I told him straight up I didn’t know him. Then he just hung up! Sounds like a dodgy scam to me, maybe a way to figure out who’s living at this number and address? It honestly creeps me out. These sorts of calls really grind my gears!

I got a call from this number early today and it just woke me up. I normally don’t pick up if I don’t recognise the caller, and it didn’t even leave a message on my voicemail, so I’m guessing it’s probably a scam.

Total scam. They said they were from BT. The guy who first called asked me about my broadband speed, then passed me to someone else. The second person asked the same question again. I gave my speed, and when he asked how much I was paying for it, I told him and they just hung up on me.

Got a call from someone saying they were with BT Openreach, saying my WIFI was under attack from hackers which was why it kept dropping out. Said I should use my mobile phone instead of my work computer and enter a website into Google. I decided to humour them, then my mate rang my mobile (he dialled the landline) so I put the caller on hold and wasted about 5 minutes. By the time I got back, the bloke had already hung up. Just got a call at 11:05 from 01484243889. The bloke said he was David, a joiner based in Ilkley. I told him I didn’t know who he was, asking what he was on about. Oddly, he called from a Huddersfield number, not Ilkley like he claimed. It felt a lot like some other call I got recently from a guy pretending to be a roofer, saying he’d fixed my garage roof - which I’ve never had done! Definitely felt dodgy to me. SCAM for sure.

So this number rang me saying they were from outreach, and that they had left messages for Sean. Over the past day, I explained several times that the outreach team were actually outside digging a hole, and I had just given them a drink because it was really warm. When I passed the phone over to one of the outreach guys, they said something rude and then the call just dropped.

I’ve received two calls from this chap now. The first time, I chose to ignore him. He’s also contacted my mum, peddling the same old nonsense. He claims his name is David and has this uncanny ability to drop my husband’s name like he knows us from yonks ago. During the latest call, he mentioned something about discussing our garage roof with my husband seven or eight years back. I swiftly pointed out that he's clearly a scammer, referencing the calls he'd made not only to me but to my mother as well. I told him outright that I recognised his game since we don’t even have a garage roof in the first place, and we certainly don't have any association with a David who ‘does roofing.’ He hung up on me right after that; I could tell I’d caught him out. For anyone else, steer clear and don’t entertain any work or upfront payments with this fella!

I had a chap tell me that I supposedly hold some cryptocurrencies, insisting that I'd make a tidy profit if I decided to cash them in. The truth is, I've never had any cryptocurrency in my possession whatsoever. It seems quite clear to me that this was an attempt to pull a fast one.

Got a robo call saying I’m owed a refund from my bank (like I’m some kind of Monopoly champ or somethin) - they wanted me to hit 5 to find out more or press another button to say I’d already got it. Pretty sure none of that’s legit tho. Best to just chuck these calls straight in the bin.
