Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas at about 6.45pm today 2/11/21. He said I hadn’t renewed my Homecare Policy and tried to offer a better deal than BG. Asked for my full name and address to “verify” me, which I gave, but when he wanted my date of birth, I said no. Then he suddenly said he couldn’t go on with the call as I failed his “security check”. I told him I’d be contacting BG to report this dodgy call. Watch out, this has scam written all over it.

A woman called me claiming to be from British Gas, and you could hear what sounded like a busy call centre in the background. She seemed really believable. Thing is, I use Octopus Energy for my gas, and the housing association sorts my boiler anyway. I haven't had anything to do with British Gas in years.
