I received a message from this number that was utterly baffling, even after we played it back ten times between the two of us. All we could pick out was the phone number, which I decided to ring. What ensued was complete silence, followed by some sort of music, and then more disjointed chatter. I attempted to press button one, but it just led to more of that confounding music. In the end, I threw my hands up in defeat.

Got a robo call from this number saying I needed to ring back to set up a smart meter installation. They said they were from National Grid, but National Grid doesn’t handle smart meters at all. Sounds like a dodgy scam trying to get into your home.

This definitely isn’t National Grid. I rang their official freephone and they said they don’t deal with Smart Meters at all. This number is just for booking engineers to install the Smart Meters, that’s all. Sounds like energy firms have just handed it off to some regular call centre! Plus, I called three times in a row and each time they hung up on me within a minute. No way I’m calling them again.

The main point of putting in smart meters is so they can charge you different rates depending on when you use electricity. Feels like they’re spying on us! I got a call from someone saying they were from my energy provider wanting to put one in, but I already told the company I’m not interested.

Supposedly calling for my energy provider, trying to give a free smart meter. Told em “no thanks” and ended the call. Blocked the number, but I’m sure they’ve got loads more to try again with.

01482 246945 never actually rings through to my phone, it just hits voicemail straight away (how’s that even possible?) and leaves a message asking me to ring them back to arrange a smart meter appointment. This has happened loads of times now, probably about a dozen. The funny thing is, it's government-backed cold calling, and honestly it feels like harassment. I’m really grateful for sites like this - without them, I might feel pushed into something I really don’t want or need.

Absolutely one of those smart meter calls. I’ve said I’m not interested and don’t need one, but they keep saying the UK Government wants everyone to have one by 2020. Truth is, it’s not actually compulsory to have one fitted. So if you get one of these calls, just mess about a bit with their automatic questions, it’s well funny. I once said my address was 4 Brick Lane, Wazzock, D12 ZZZ (No care either). These cold callers deserve a bit of cheek thrown back at them!

This number 01482 246945 belongs to National Grid. They keep calling and texting me about smart meters, but honestly their approach feels quite aggressive. I even got a message from them at about 10am saying my power was off and they'd try to fix it by 3pm, and that I should get in touch. Thing is, my electricity was never disconnected that day and I didn’t bother calling them. I never shared my number with them and really don’t want to hear from them anymore, but they just keep pushing and won’t respect me saying no.

Got a call around 7.45pm from a bloke claiming he was with national grid. i told him my energy company has already tried to arrange a smart meter install but i’m not interested. they’re not forced on us anyway. then this afternoon about 1.30pm a lady rang and left a voicemail asking me to call back, which there’s no way i will be doing.

national grid keeps ringing about some smart meter, even though ive told them no thanks. did some digging and turns out there’s no law forcing you to get one. energy firms just got targets to hit, that’s why they’re so persistent.
