Why is it that all the calls I receive show up as coming from a Kingston-upon-Hull number? Does KCOM, which used to be KC or Kingston Communications, just hand out free numbers to scammers or what? It really feels like that, my phone’s call blocker has already stopped tons of calls from Kingston-upon-Hull numbers.

Got a cold call about some PPI claim - they were super calm and polite, speaking really quietly, but you can tell they’re just trying to dig info out of you. Said it was for a no win no fee deal. Anyway, I’ve blocked the number now!

Got a call from Martin at Redstar Insurance, said it was about checking up on my life insurance. Wouldn't say if he was actually from my insurance company. Called during work hours, was quite pushy, raised his voice and really condescending. I hung up on him three times telling him I was busy with work, but he rang a fourth time, telling me how I'd feel if someone did the same to me. Proper unsettling. Blocking the number now.

Today I got a call I couldn’t answer and since I’m waiting on a possible ring from Sainsbury’s Bank, I decided to call back. The automated voice greeted me with a generic “Welcome” without mentioning my name, then said to stay on the line for the next available representative. After about 10 seconds though, the call just dropped. Strange to see others mention MBNA too, because I’m also waiting for a credit card from them to arrive soon. Got a call on my phone earlier from some lot talking all sorts about money troubles they could fix. When I asked where they got my number, they reckoned I’d signed up with them. I’m ex-military, so I didn’t hold back and gave him a dose of proper barrack talk. Reported it to Kingston Communications (01482) but they were no use at all. 3Mobile told me to just grab an app called Blacklist from the Play Store and block the number. Sorted now!!

Got a call from them today, they asked if I owned a Capital One card, I said no, then they just hung up on me. Proper rude. The bloke was even coughing into the phone at the start.

Got two calls this morning, so I've just blocked the number. The bloke reckoned I'd had several credit cards before 2009 (which is rubbish) and said I was owed a refund. When I asked how he’d got my mobile, he claimed I’d consented to being contacted on it - which I definitely haven’t. Then he said I was due money through my bank. I told him to send the details by post instead.

The bloke was pushing life insurance, and when I told him it wasn’t a great moment, he got quite pushy and rude. He went on about how their records show I never pick up and it’s never a good time for me. I kept saying I wasn’t interested and it really wasn’t a good time, but he just shouted more then hung up.
