Since then, they’ve reached out to me a staggering ten times today, prompting me to finally pick up the phone. Their calls have been relentless, coming in from 8 in the morning right through to 8 in the evening - definitely not your usual office hours, I’d say. The voice on the other end seemed to belong to a call centre, sounding quite foreign. They claimed that I had entered a competition for a chance to win an Apple iPhone and that, as part of this supposed survey I participated in, I was entitled to ten free Lotto entries for this Friday. Naturally, they wanted me to confirm a few details. Now, I do take part in surveys, but none of them ever lead to competitions like this. When I replied that I hadn’t signed up for any competitions, but that I do engage in surveys, they insisted that I had done so three months prior. Then, they pressed me to reveal which survey platforms I was using. I was baffled and asked, “Which do you mean?” He reiterated, and I responded, “Are you asking about which sites I engage with?” He was rather fixated and said, “If I were to ask, what have you used in the past week?” I was utterly confused and countered, “Used what?!” - to which he snapped back that he meant the survey sites. Before I knew it, he had hung up! It was all clearly a dodgy scheme, attempting to fish for my details by getting me to name the sites I use. I have never entered any competition linked to this, and their tactics were glaringly shameful! My advice? Do not engage with them - simply block the number.
